CHAPTER SIXTEEN By Tuesday morning, Margot was feeling well enough to go to work. Over breakfast she told me I looked like death warmed over and asked what was wrong. "Tell you later," I said, not sure when "later" would be. But she cornered me for lunch and pulled it out of me. In truth, I didn’t put up much of a fight. I needed confirmation that I’d done nothing wrong. For her part, although Margot was supportive and loyal to me as her friend and roommate, she was too generous to be completely harsh toward Drew. She mourned with me, and she mourned for Drew, as well. "I totally get that this was really something wonderful for Emmett," she said. "It seems wrong that Drew just assumed the worst," she said.
