She threw herself into sculpting. She was sculpting hands side by side, to use as planters when spring comes. She switched off her phone. But trying to hide from reality never lasts long. Her mind would flash back to when Caleb shifted. His golden eyes haunted her. A hysterical laugh bubbled up her throat, and she switched off the chain saw. She was frustrated with herself. She covered her work with a dust sheet, switched off the light, and then slammed the door shut. She whispered a quick apology to her parents.
