Caleb was nervous. He had an idea for the perfect date. And he didn't want any interruptions. He worked all morning to make sure everything went without hiccups. He had the help of Owen and Bert. Leon was training the warriors. Duncan drew up an extra schedule with guards, and they were briefed on what to do. Athena and Cass were busy in the kitchen. They volunteered to make the food themselves, knowing the level of excellence Caleb wanted. Timothy was keeping watch at the cabin untill Bert returned. At three everything was perfect.
Caleb took a long hot shower, then shaved, making sure his face was smooth as a baby's bottom. Then he dressed in black jeans and a white button up shirt, with a black blazer and black dress shoes. He combed his hair, but there was one stubborn lock of hair that would't stay put. It kept curling over his forehead. Giving up, he decided to leave it be. At half past four he left to pick up Cathy. Excitement and nerves making him feel almost light headed.
Cathy spent the morning working on her statue. She ate lunch, then napped for an hour, as thoughts of Caleb kept her awake till early in the morning. She woke up feeling a bit groggy, and took a long, hot shower to clear the sleep from her mind. She thought of the handsome man coming to pick her up. She enjoyed his company. And she liked the way he talked and listened to her. It made her feel like he was genuinely interested in what she had to say. She washed and conditioned her hair, then scrubbed her face with an exfoliating face wash. She washed her body and then shaved. She wanted to look good. Nerves were starting to bother her. This was her first real date. The time her cousin took her to prom doesn't count.
She dried herself off and moisturized her face, body and feet. Then she blow dried her hair, not really knowing what to do with it. She pulled her phone closer and searched for a tutorial on YouTube. She found one she liked, that also looked doable. Following the steps, she managed to style her strawberry blonde hair. Then she applied a little eyeliner, and mascara. Deciding to accentuate her lips she put on coral coloured lip stick. Deciding that she looked pretty, she pulled open her underwear drawer. She blushed when she saw the lingerie sets the girls convinced her to buy. Thanking them mentally, she selected the black lace set. She donned black, warm, wool pantyhose, a black skirt that ended just below her knees, coupled with a white polo neck shirt. She checked that the bra didn't show through the thick material. Then she put on her new knee high boots and jacket. It was almost time for Caleb to pick her up when she finished.
She was pacing the living room floor when she heard his car pull up. He knocked, and she composed herself, forcing herself to not walk too fast to answer. She didn't want to appear desperate. Opening the door, she smiled warmly. Hiding the fact that she was mentally drooling over the picture of male perfection standing in front of her. "Wow, you are beautiful" he said, looking in her eyes. She felt her cheeks go red as she blushed. "Thank you. You look very handsome yourself" she replied, almost sounding breathless. He smiled warmly, offering her his arm "Ready to go?". Nodding, she placed her hand on it, and pulled the door close behind her as she walked with him to the car. He opened her door and waited till she was settled in, before closing it and going around to the driver side.
They drove in comfortable silence, and after they drove for about forty minutes, Caleb asked "Would you mind closing your eyes?". "Uhm, okay" she said frowning, but doing as he asked. He stopped the car, and came round to her side. He opened her door and helped her out. Taking her hand in his, he led her. "It is safe, you can just walk. There isn't anything that will make you trip" he said. She walked with him and felt him stop. "You can open your eyes" he said. She did and gasped. In front of her was a lake. On it was a floating gazebo. The railings and pillars were decorated with fairy lights, and an oil lamp was hanging from the roof. The water of the lake was shimmering in the last rays of the setting sun. "Oh my, that is so beautiful" she exlaimed, making Caleb smile. He helped her onto the gazebo, and she noticed the table set up. Their was a gas heater, and it made the gazebo quite warm. Caleb helped her out of her jacket. He pulled out her chair for her and then sat down opposite her.
He asked her about her interests, in turn she asked him about the business he attended to when she first arrived. They conversed through a delicious three course meal. Then out of nowhere, Owen and Timothy appeared, taking away the table and chairs. She looked at Caleb questioningly, he smiled and pressed a remote, soft music filled the air. "Would you care to dance, fair lady?" he asked, bowing and holding out his hand with a dramatic flair. She chuckled, placing her hand in his. He pulled her close and they started swaying to the music. She laid her head against his shoulder, and he placed his chin on it. It felt like a dream for both of them. They danced like this for a few songs. When the last note of the song faded away, she looked up at him. He looked deep into her eyes, and then kissed her. She felt the sparkles again. "We definitely have chemistry" she thought "and his lips are so soft". He pulled away, then turned her around, pulling her back against his front, holding her tight. They watched the full moon climb higher in the sky.
He spoke softly against her ear "I really like you Cathy. A lot. I would like to get to know you". "I like you too" she admitted, leaning her head back on his shoulder. "Would you be my girlfriend?" he asked, hope in his voice. "Yes" she answered, not seeing the happiness in his eyes.
