Samantha rushed home, her mind racing with thoughts of her family. The phone call had been from her sister, Emily, and she had sounded frantic.
As Samantha walked in the door, Emily was waiting for her in the living room. "Sam, I'm so glad you're home," she said, rushing over to hug her.
Samantha hugged her back, feeling a sense of concern. "What's going on, Emily? You sounded really upset on the phone."
Emily pulled back, her eyes welling up with tears. "It's Mom," she said. "She's in the hospital."
Samantha's heart skipped a beat as she felt a wave of fear wash over her. "What happened?" she asked.
Emily shook her head. "I don't know. I got a call from the hospital saying that she had been in an accident. I'm so scared, Sam."
Samantha hugged her sister tightly, trying to reassure her. "We'll get through this together," she said.
As they hugged, Samantha couldn't help but think about Alexander. She had been having such a great time with him, and now this had happened.
She felt a pang of guilt for not telling him about her family, but she had been trying to keep her personal life separate from her work life.
As they pulled back, Emily looked at her with tears in her eyes. "I'm so glad you're here, Sam," she said.
Samantha smiled, trying to reassure her. "I'll always be here for you, Emily."
Together, they headed to the hospital to see their mom. As they walked in, Samantha felt a sense of fear wash over her. What would they find?
When they got to the hospital room, their mom was lying in bed, looking pale and weak. Samantha felt a pang of fear as she rushed over to hug her.
"Mom, I'm so glad we're here," she said, trying to hold back tears.
Her mom smiled weakly, reaching out to touch her face. "I'm glad you're here, sweetie," she said.
As they talked, Samantha learned that her mom had been in a car accident on her way home from work. She had been rushed to the hospital and was now in stable condition.
Samantha felt a wave of relief wash over her, but she knew that her mom still had a long road to recovery ahead of her.
As they left the hospital that night, Samantha couldn't help but think about Alexander again. She knew she had to tell him about her mom, but she was scared.
What would he think? Would he still want to be with her?
Samantha didn't know, but she knew she had to take the chance.
