Chapter 20 We stood in front of the house, and the air was still thick with the effects of everything that had happened. The ground was wet, and the grass blades pressed coldly against my bare toes, making sharp little stings go up my skin every time I moved. It didn't really hurt, but after everything my body had been through, even the smallest pain felt worse, as if my senses had been stripped bare.
