Nerissa POV Kaelor blocked the doorway with his body. He didn't grab my arm or raise his voice or do any of the obvious things. He simply stood in the frame and looked at me with those steady dark eyes and made it clear through sheer physical presence that the corridor on the other side of him was not available to me right now. "Move," I said. "No," he said. "Kaelor." "Nerissa," he said back. From below us another sound traveled through the stone. One of them is Zayden's. The flat contained a voice that carried without raising. The other voice I didn't recognize but the quality of it said whoever it belonged to was somewhere between terrified and trying not to show it. "He's going to hurt someone," I said. "Possibly," Kaelor said. "And you're not concerned about that?" I said.
