Chapter 8

Ty'an quietly closed the door to the apartment continuing to pray that Dominic wouldn't be there. Hearing his boot fall coming from the direction of the bedroom she closed her eyes and leaned her head against the backside of the door. No such luck. "Your home, what did she want?" he asked as he stopped several feet from her. She took a deep breath using all her will to shove her powers as deep down as she could, stealing herself before turning to face him. "Wow, what the hell," he took an involuntary step back. "What's wrong with your eyes? What did she do?' Power must have been rolling off of her for him to step back like that, Dominic was a dominant and it would take a lot to cause his instinct to pull him back yielding even a little. She blinked and looked at the floor not submissively just averting her gaze. She knew how unnerving her black eyes were, she had spent many sleepless hours examining them in the mirror before she had lost her powers. She blinked several more times willing them to return to their normal shade of blue. "I can't really explain. I just came to pack a bag. It isn't safe for you to have me here any more." she pushed off the door as she spoke, rushing past him to the bedroom. Grabbing a pack and shoving items carelessly into it. "Wait, what? Your leaving, just like that?" he had followed her to the doorway, standing with a stunned look on his face. "I told you, I can't explain further. It's Fae business. You know how this goes as well as I do," turning to look at him, she wanted to memorize every inch of his handsome face. More than likely she wouldn't be coming back. "I can't put your life in danger Dominic. Don't ask me to." "Ok, seriously whats going on with you. I swear when you first walked in your eyes where black, now their blue again. Or am I losing it?" he rubbed a hand down his face, then leaned on the doorframe, "I get that you have Fae business to attend to. But why are you acting like your not coming back and this is goodbye?" "Because it is. I don't know if I'm coming back. But either way, this is goodbye. I cannot and will not risk your life by staying here," turning to the closet she grabbed a few more items and shoved them in the bag before closing it. "I have lost almost everyone that I care about by being to close to them. Sly is safe as long as he is with the Queen and away from me. Now I need to do the right thing and get away from you. I couldn't bare it if something happened to you." She walked to him, stood on her tip toes and kissed his cheek. He still looked confused, hurt crept along his handsome features. "I love you Dominic, I love you enough to let you go. Knowing that your safe far away from me is the best way I can show my love for you now, I'm sorry I have to go," she slipped under his arm and passed him rushing out the front door. Hoping against hope that he wouldn't follow her. She was so worried about if he would follow her she slammed straight into Gabriels chest. Knocking the wind out of herself, the wolf was lean and hard. It was like walking into a f*****g tree trunk. A very big tree trunk. She might have fallen onto her butt if he didn't grab her arm and steady her. "Going somewhere in a hurry little Fae?" he sardonically asked her. "Let go Gabriel, I don't have time for this right now," she ripped her arm from his grasp and moved to push past him "if you see Dominic tell him not to follow me." Gabriel made no movement besides just to turned and watch her stalk away. Within second Dominic quickly appeared from the direction Ty'an had originally come from. "Ty'an didn't pass you on your way in did she? She just got back from a meeting with the Fae Queen and she said she had to leave that she was putting my life in danger by staying. She didn't make a whole lot of sense honestly. Her eyes where black then blue, i've never seen her act like this," he asked. Gabriel moved to face him as he spoke. "Why yes brother, she did. Trouble in paradise? Most interesting and odd little Fae you have there. She said to tell you not to follow her," grinning at his blood brother, "but she didn't say anything about me following her now did she? I get the feeling from you both that she is up to something and I'm intrigued." Without waiting for a reply Gabriel shifted to his wolf and padded up the path following the female Fae's scent. Intrigued indeed, there was only one species of Fae whose eyes turned black. Dark Fae.
