Chapter 4: The Guardian of Time

429 Words
Ever since the strange boy appeared at the training grounds, Lyra could not calm her mind. Something was wrong. The past she remembered was slowly changing. And worst of all, she had no idea why. That night, Moonvale was unusually quiet. Dark clouds covered the sky, hiding the moon. Unable to sleep, Lyra sat beside her window and looked outside. Then she noticed it. A strange blue light deep within the forest near the Moon Temple. Her heart skipped a beat. The Moon Temple. The place where everything began. Without thinking, Lyra quietly left the house and followed the light. The deeper she went into the forest, the colder the air became. Soon, she reached the ruins. The broken pillars stood silently beneath the night sky. And in the center of the ruins... The crystal was glowing again. But this time, dark shadows surrounded it. Lyra stepped back in fear. Suddenly, a pair of red eyes opened within the darkness. The same eyes from her dreams. A terrifying voice echoed through the ruins. "Found you." The shadows rushed toward her. Lyra froze. She wanted to run, but her body refused to move. Just as the darkness was about to reach her— A silver light flashed across the ruins. Slash! The shadows disappeared instantly. Lyra stared in shock. A tall man stood between her and the darkness. He wore a black cloak with silver markings that moved like flowing light. In his hand was a sword unlike anything Lyra had ever seen. His silver eyes were calm and cold. The red-eyed creature growled before disappearing into the darkness. Silence returned. Lyra slowly looked up at the stranger. "Who are you?" she asked. The man she had never met looked at her with an unreadable expression. Then he spoke. "You should not have come here." Lyra frowned. "What are you talking about?" Instead of answering, his eyes moved toward the glowing crystal. His expression darkened. "So it is true," he murmured. "The timeline has changed." Lyra's eyes widened. "You know about this?" The stranger finally looked at her again. For the first time, surprise appeared in his silver eyes. "You remember." It wasn't a question. He already knew. Before Lyra could speak, he sheathed his sword. "My name is Orion." "The leader of the Wraith Guardians." "And because of your wish..." "The flow of time is beginning to break." Lyra felt her world collapse. "What?" Orion's voice remained calm. "Saving one life may cost countless others." "And if we do nothing..." "Everything you know will disappear." --- To Be Continued...
