"Mom, Dad, who is she? What happened? Do I know her?" Caide asked as he looked at his parents' faces.
Meanwhile, Celestine's tears came down to her eyes, for she thought Caide was alright. An unexpected response made her heartbreak into pieces.
"Y-you don't... r-remember...me... Caide?" Celestine stutters. She did not know how to react while slowly wiping out her tears, making Caide confused.
Has the accident of falling off the stairs caused him to have amnesia? But why? Celestine thought. It was supposed to be me who got that amnesia, not Caide. Why did I let this happen? Why? Why.... as she slowly knelt down while tears came out of her sad eyes.
Earlier, she was fighting with Elise because of the accident, the mastermind of all these problems. Later on, she blamed her for all of Elise's troubles and received a lot of hurtful words from Caide's parents, whom she thought accepted her as part of their family. They even wanted her to leave their son. They wanted her to leave out of their sight. Now her boyfriend cannot remember anything, including her existence, including the love between them, even the future which they planned once they settled.
Why did I have to suffer for all the things that I haven't done? She thought. Then, later on, she stood up and wiped her tears and told Caide everything, but as soon as she started to tell him about the accident, Caide's mother approached him.
"Son, you got into an accident because of her" Mrs. Ramirez said with anger while pointing her finger at Celestine.
"No! Caide, that's not true. Please let me explain myself. Believe me, Caide". Celestine tried to defend herself from her mom, but Ms. Ramirez is vicious and unstoppable, that she is so eager to push Celestine away from Caide. A mother that is determined to ruin their relationship and poison her son's mind.
"Celestine! Are you not ashamed of yourself? Look at you, you want to taint our son's memory. Do not tell lies. We don't know you, you have no business with us, so leave!" Mrs. Ramirez looks at her with disdain. She really hates Celestine for her son. She did not favor her to be with Caide.
"What are you waiting for?! Leave?!" Celestine walked towards Mrs. Ramirez and held both of her hands. She knelt down in front of Ms. Ramirez for the sake of her relationship with Caide. She loved him so much. She wanted to be with Caide, only Caide.
"Mrs. Ramirez, please I'm begging you. I love Caide and please, tell him the truth..." She uttered. Caide and his parents were shocked after seeing Celestine on her knees, but his parents were not swayed by her actions.
"And I am her mother! I am telling the truth. I know what's best for my son! How dare you accuse me of telling lies to my son!? He does not even remember you. More like, he does not know you. How can you prove your statement about being his lover, huh!? We both know that there are lots of girls who willingly want to love my son just for fame and wealth. Are you sure you are not one of them, Ms. Celestine!?" Mrs. Ramirez replied when she pulled her hands away from Celestine with force, making Celestine fall.
Celestine was still on the ground, looking down with disappointment in her eyes. Then, she stands up and stopped herself from crying.
These questions almost shattered her heart. How can Mrs. Ramirez said all of those things in front of his son? She was obviously lying. She acted like a good mother and graceful woman to me before, but why is she like that now, a vicious woman?
"Caide, I am really your lover. I know you have amnesia. I know you can't remember anything, but soon you will remember everything, including the accident." She said to Caide, then saw his face confused about the happenings.
"Dad, what do this lady and mom are talking about? I don't even know what is going on right now. I need Elise. Where is Elise, Dad?" Caide asked.
Elise? Why is he asking for Elise's presence? Did he remember the accident? Celestine thought.
"The lady who saved you... why are you asking for her?" His dad asked him. Celestine was also confused because Caide was asking for the presence of the girl who almost killed them both. Literally, he is asking his parents about the woman who wanted to ruin their relationship.
"I remember Elise as my friend... and my admirer," Caide said while avoiding looking at Celestine. He acted like Celestine was not in the room.
"How about me? I am Celestine. Don't you remember me? I am your girlfriend, Caide. Please Caide!" Celestine asked, hoping that Caide remembered her. Even for once, she wanted Caide to remember everything. She just wanted Caide to remember her.
Meanwhile, Caide looked at her. He tried to remember her, but it only made his head in pain. He touched his head because of the sudden pain and tension.
"I'm sorry but I don't remember you, miss." He sighed while still touching his head. He really felt exhausted. He can still feel the pain from the other parts of his body.
"B-but Cai--
"Celestine! Let my son take a rest. And please, stop fantasizing about you and Caide." Mrs. Ramirez interfered when she saw her son's sudden mood change.
"I... I guess... I'll visit some...sometime around." Celestine made her way out of the room with a heavy feeling. Slowly walking, she is so upset because of the unexpected turn of events. She really thought that Caide would remember everything after he woke up. She screams with agony, making other people notice her.
When Celestine left the room, Mrs. Ramirez walked towards Caide and pursued her son to stay away from Celestine. She let her son rest after talking to her.
"Honey, I like Elise more than this trash Celestine. She is more suitable for our son". Mrs. Ramirez said to her husband, who was currently reading a newspaper.
"I totally agree. We should tell her something good to Caide about her. Her family background could help our business if Caide marries her. We cannot let this opportunity go away". Mr. Ramirez said while reading the news about Montero's family opening ten branches of restaurants around the country.
Celestine went home, still undressed, slowly walked towards her room, and laid down. With empty feelings, still thinking about Caide's situation. She cannot think of a good solution.
Too many heartbreaking thoughts keep popping out of her mind. She cannot make her eyes close and still think about being between her and Caide.
What if he could no longer remember everything?
Will he still choose her?
Will he fight for her?
Will he still love her as much as she does?
A sudden noise made Celestine stand up. She heard something crash in the living room. She grabbed something and went down to look if someone snuck into her house.
She tried to open the switch in the living room, but it did not light up.
Did someone break the electricity? She asked herself while feeling scared. What if there is really someone who snuck inside her house and tried to harm her? What will she do?
Only the light from the moon that passed through the house windows gave light inside the living room. She could clearly see the pieces of the flower vase scattered around the floor.
Is it a cat? She thought, but it was impossible. She does not have any cats at home. There aren't any stray cats in her area. Celestine thought about ghosts and she suddenly felt a panic attack caused by fear.
When she was about to get a broom and dustpan to clean up, someone unknown grabbed her hand tightly.
"Ah!" she shrieks.
