These women really are different from what I was used to. My last set of coworkers were malicious and gossiping. But Mrs. Mari and Tina were very chill. They seemed a bit different. It took me by surprise. “Makena, I love your name. I hear Serena is calling you Mac.”

Serena cut in. “It’s cause I want us to be friends. And friends give each other nicknames.”
“Mmhmm, she’s right. Just as long as you don’t call me Cyn. I’d feel dirty.”
