“Good morning, sir!” Eureka beamed at me over the counter. “Bacon and egg?”
“No, I’ll have Hungarian sausages, please.” I cracked a grin at her while thumbing my chin.
“Woah, are you Luke Monasterio or someone who just looks exactly like him. Or maybe you came from a different dimension, transverse our Universe to gather all the Hungarian sausage in the world, aren’t you?”
“For a cashier, you’re such a nerd.”
“How dare you degrade the economic importance of cashiers?” she quipped.
“Ms. Cashier, I do respect you and your skills and never had questions your economic importance. I was just complimenting you.”
“Nice try, but you’ll not get free bacon.”
“Oh come on.” I bowed my head to appear defeated.
“I’ll just give you your order, sir.”
And so I waited. We Deliver, for today doesn’t have much customers. Maybe it was because of the fact that it’s now the mid-sem and exams were just flying everywhere that’s why people doesn’t have time to eat breakfast anymore.
“Here you go, sir, Hungarian sausages.”
“Ms. Cashier/Ms. Waitress, how much is one minute of your time?”
“Oh, I don’t know, I’ll ask Kylie.” She turned to the counter and shouted “Kylie, how much is one minute of my time?”
A short girl with an exact uniform appeared from the kitchen. She must be Kylie, her roommate and the fry cook. She looked at us and grinned widely. “She’s 50 cents per minute.” Kylie said.
“Really?” Eureka said incredulous “That’s harsh, selling your roommate for such a low price! And also if you’ll tolerate that then you’re not gonna be a good acting-manager.”
“Acting-manager? Why, your boss is gone?” I asked her.
“Yeah, she let Kylie in charge.”
I nodded in response. “Oh, thanks Kylie!”I called out to the kitchen.
“Yeah, thanks. So what’s up? Why do you need a minute of mine?” She sat with me at the table.
“How are you? With Kylie, I mean.”
“We’re fine! We really like each other.”
“Wait, was she a lesbian?”
She rolled her eyes to me. “No, for Pete’s sake. Is that it? Gonna ask me, if I’m fine?”
“Um, no. I came to tell you that Sydney and I are talking again and she said she liked us to hang-out together.”
“That’s cool!” She nodded her head gently and continuously. “But, I’m not sure why you’re informing me this?”
“I came to ask you if that’s alright with you, you know.”
“Why would I not be alright with it? God, Luke, I don’t have a say if you still wanted to get back together with your ex, why are you asking me like that!?”
“Oh no, that’s not it. We’re not getting back together.”
“Oh, you’re not?” For some reason her face became suddenly red.
“We’re not. We’re just friends.”
“You mean a platonic relationship?”
I smiled at her for choosing her words smartly. “Yes, a platonic relationship. Now, as I was asking, are you alright hanging out with us, me, her, Matt and you?”
“Yeah, like I said that’s cool.”
“Oh, good then I’ll see you at Friday evening. We’re going at a party!”
