Chapter 6

6 (Page 1 of 126) It was just a dream. I didn’t notice that I fell asleep last night. That is quite unusual of me. I was back to my sentience but I choose to keep my eyes shut. I want to continue my dream but it’s no use. Sigh. The sun light seems to penetrate through my eyelids as it came to hurt my eyes forcing me to open it slowly. Oh, there is a face in front of me. Wait. What? I climbed out of bed in an instant like I was given a jolt of electricity all of a sudden. For the record, I think this is the fastest time I climbed out of my bed fully alert. I grabbed my eyeglasses and wore it instantaneously. “Oh my freaking.....what did I do last night?” I murmured to myself. It is a girl. There is a girl on my bed! Who the hell is she?! What did I do to her? Is she a crazily drank gal who winded up on my bed? No that is impossible. I’m sure I locked the door to our apartment. Did I? A number of thoughts flashed on my head and felt weak and all. I literally stood frozen beside my bed just looking at her petite limp body. She was wearing a gray hoodie and dark blue skinny jeans. She is also wearing Cosmo black sneakers that have its laces on the side. Her hair is scattered all over the side of her face. She seems well-groomed and all but it is no telling that she is a wild sleeping psychopath. I tried to breathe normally as possible. I felt that I need to wake her up. But first, I need a weapon- a weapon of choice that would give me an absolute edge even if she is a master assassin. So I tiptoed to the kitchen area and grabbed the soft broom and went swiftly back to my room. She was still sound asleep, good. I wiped the sweat dripping from my forehead and started to inch towards her. At a distance I deemed to be safe, I used the broom to poke her round cheeks. She started to react to my agitation while I started to get scared even further. At first she twitched her tiny nose like some fluffy rabbit but then at once she glared open her eyes like the ones on the movies where the predator would be awakened showing its huge scary eyes. But her eyes are not scary. My hands started to tremble as I positioned the broom in front of me. Without me even realizing it she was already out of bed and she started screaming. Out of my surprise, I started to scream as well and ran out of the room slamming the door shut. Wait a minute, why am I the one who left the room? This is my house! Trying to catch my breath, I placed my ear beside the door. Silence. She might have been startled as well. “Hello? Are you going to kill me?” I called out. I just hope that it did not sound so wimpy. “What? Hell no! Why would I murder you? I don’t even know you!” she answered with a weird tone in her voice. Maybe she is a foreigner. “Would you please open the door now?” “Why would I do that?” I’m little unsure about talking to her. “Because, I assure you, I have a proper demeanour and I am pretty much scared of your broom. Surely you have chosen a fine weapon.” “Okay? Thanks for the sarcasm but I don’t need that.” “Besides why would a murderer sleep in your bed and not kill you instead?” She got a point. Though my mind is filled with doubts I feel like I could trust her. “I’m going to open the door at the count of three” I clenched at the door knob even harder. “One...two...three” A startled girl came into my view as I swing the door open. For someone who recently had woken up, her straight black hair still seems to be refined. Her brown round eyes locked into mine as it study my every blink. She stepped a little closer and I stepped back further. Her fair complexion gives her a glow like that of a commercial of a beauty product. In short, she’s beautiful. “Why are you so scared of me? Am I that intimidating?” she asked. She then gave me a sneer and raised one of her eyebrow. Despite of her looking so friendly and unthreatening I still find it hard to trust her. I wanted to say something but a weak groan came out instead leaving my mouth open. “What? Cat got your tongue?” she teased “Hi, I’m Luke. Who are you?” I finally managed to choke out. Then it came to me that I sounded so friendly. That shouldn’t be the case! I should be manly and threatening. “Me?” she sneered again “I’m Eureka” she held out her hand “I’m Eureka Cortez.
