Chapter 7

1862 Words

7 Guy’s head didn’t pound, it rang like it was a gong and someone had banged it. He rolled over on the mattress, but felt like he was on a capsizing boat. He rolled the other way with the same result, only the ringing in his ears got louder. When he righted himself, he realized the ringing didn’t stop. He peeled one eye open to see that lights were flashing. His cell phone. He scooped up the device, not bothering to look at the screen. It was the weekend, he was on vacation, and he refused to deal with work. This was the one place where he could put himself first. The one place he could get a little TLC, instead of busting his ass trying to produce rockstars out of rocks. He hit “decline” and rolled onto his stomach. His head seemed to settle for a while, but then his phone rang again.
