In the town car, Midori set Kimmei between her and Guy. That didn’t stop the electricity from flowing between the two adults. Guy Rumpel had gotten past the barriers she’d erected to steer men in the opposite direction. She uncrossed and then re-crossed her legs so that they faced away from the middle and towards the door, waiting for the car to stop so that she could get out of this confined space, with this man who smelled so good and smiled at her as though stars danced around her head.
For his part, Guy kept Kimmei engaged in a conversation about music. He’d tried to bring Midori into the fold, but when she’d looked over at him their eyes had locked and they’d both stared. Everything slowed down and the colors around them blurred as though they’d fallen into some musical montage.
