•• ABIGAIL ••
"If only you were not granddaughter of that oldman Zachary, I would have cut off your tongue for saying that,” he hissed angrily, his hand stopping in mid-air.
He turned his back to me, and I gulped in nervously, my heart pounding hardly in my chest.
“Mark,” he glanced at his secretary. “Show this arrogant, over privileged, sharp-tongued niece of mine her staying room. Get her out of my sight before I break her into two!”
My eyebrows furrowed together as I trembled in rage, and I swear I wasn't going to talk back but my mouth had other plans.
"I, too, don't want to stay in your sight and suffocate myself further. Don't even come looking for me afterwards, Uncle," I snarled, cursing under my breath as I stormed out of his office and slammed the door behind.
"Haa, why would I come looking for you? Delusional brat," I heard a thundering growl from his office, and twitched my lips in annoyance.
"I can't believe I have to deal with this man. I'll never forgive grandfather for this," I sped up, making Mark run behind me.
He raced to me and guided me to the girl's dormitory building, just behind the main campus's premises. I saw a large training ground in front of the dormitory building, and many young Alphas were training in hand-to-hand combat.
When they saw me passing by, one of them whistled, "Yo, we will soon have a new mate."
"Bro, look at her. She has an omega’s face, so pretty," another one chuckled, licking his lips dry. "It's a shame, she's Alpha. Otherwise I would have definitely proposed to her to become my girlfriend."
"Definitely bro," another chorused, supporting his audacious comments and their crazy laughter followed by.
They made me feel insecure, and as if Mark had noticed my awkwardness, he stopped and glanced at the young Alphas.
The training ground fell silent, laughter replacing fear of getting punished made those arrogant Alpha's faces pale.
I instinctively looked at Mark— and his relaxed expressions were nowhere to be seen.
His eyes were glistening like gold under the sunrays. Dominant Beta... He must be Uncle's Beta. No wonder he holds such strong control over those young Alphas even if he's Beta.
"If I hear another word of mockery from you boys," he paused, his fists clenching tightly. "I'll make sure to rip off those damn mouths and feed them to the academy's pet dogs! Am I being clear enough?"
"Y-Yes... Secretary Mark," they nodded immediately, and I could see horror dancing in their eyes.
Well I can't blame them, even if they were Alphas, they were too young and not experienced fighters like Mark.
Mark turned back and continued walking, I quietly followed him. He introduced me to the caretaker of the girl's dormitory, Miss Ophelia. She was an omega, no wonder Mark's voice softened while talking to her.
"Make sure to take care of Miss Abigail. She's Lord Dominick's niece," Mark advised Ophelia and turned to face me. "Please don't take Lord Dominick's words to heart. He's known for being strict with students."
"If anyone tries to bully you, find me instead of Lord Dominick. I'll make sure to teach them a good lesson for you."
"Are you an angel, Secretary Mark ?" I whimpered, feeling overwhelmed by his kindness, "you are so wise compared to my cold-hearted uncle."
"Ahem!" He cleared his throat, hiding his obvious smile. "You remind me of my little sister. She's feisty like you and likes to argue with me every time we meet."
"Oh I see," I smiled at him and thanked him for standing up for me.
"Alright, I'll be on my way back. Lord Dominick must be looking for me," he said and waved goodbye to me.
"Shall we get inside, Miss Abigail?" Ophelia asked, and took my luggage from my hands. "You must be tired from your long journey. Let me carry them to your respective room."
"Yes."
I paced behind her, gathering curious stares of the girls in the dormitory. Ophelia showed me my room which was on the third floor. I assume the third floor was for grade 1 students.
"Here, this is your student card and your room's password. Do not lose it," she handed me a card that had a numerical password and basic details about me.
"Please take a rest. I'll call you for lunch later," Ophelia said and bowed in respect before leaving.
My eyes noticed the shocked gasps of girls but I was in no mood of introducing myself to them. I entered my room and locked the door from inside.
Sighing in relief, I threw my luggage on the chair and jumped on the bed like a lazy potato. Suddenly my eyes snapped open, and I ran to my luggage.
Rummaging through my clothes, I pulled out a plastic container. The container which has bottles of suppressant pills.
I have to take pills three times a day to conceal my omega pheromones. I'm going to be surrounded by Alphas all the time here. If they get even a slight whiff of my pheromones... My life will only become difficult. I'm saving myself for my one and only future mate.
Swallowing two pills at once, I hid the plastic container in the closet and locked it with a new password. Then I arranged my clothes, books, and the snacks that I brought with me.
"Hey newcomer, are you inside?" I heard girls' voices from outside.
Rolling my eyes in annoyance, I stride gloomy to the door and open for them. They shoved packets of snacks and chocolates at my face with one request.
"Please make me your friend. I'll help you with your training and academics."
Weird! They didn't even bother to ask my name and straight away jumped on becoming my friend. I kept the snacks and chocolates aside and stood against the doorframe with crossed arms.
"Why do you all want to become my friend?"
"Well...," the girls looked at each other before whispering near me. "We heard from boys that you are the niece of Lord Dominick. If that's true, it will be best for us to become friends with you instead of becoming your rivals."
"Lord Dominick again!" I was slowly getting tired of hearing his name and shut the door in front of the girls.
"Hey, please what happened? Do you not like our gifts? Tell us what we can do to become your friend?" The girls started banging on my door like they'd break inside.
"Seriously...," I groaned, massaging my forehead. "I like them all... Now if you'd leave, I'd like to rest in peace."
A week went by, I managed to get along with the girls of the dormitory and even made a few good friends. Boys of my grade praised me for my beauty and wished I was an omega. Lying to them continuously about me being Alpha became my daily routine.
Until one morning I was called in the office of Director by secretary Mark. I took my sweet time to arrive in his office and greeted him with a lousy voice.
"Why were you looking for me? Didn't you say you'd never see me again, Uncle?" I reminded him, and his expressions tensed.
He looked at me like he would murder me if I utter another word of disrespect. So I sealed my lips together because who wants to die virgin— I haven't even shared my first kiss with any man.
"You," he pointed his finger at me, hatred plastered on his face. "Are you going around the academy announcing our relationship?"
"Excuse me? Our relationship?" I panicked, what relationship he was talking about.
