Chapter 21The moment Skyz59 appeared on the console screen, Kaire felt tempted to change course, bypass the space station, and head out into unknown territory where at least he would have another few years of life. Common sense and conscience soon prevailed; he could not deny Pia the rest of her life, and before long the ship was entering the Sky docking tunnel and locking onto the outer rim of the decontamination chamber. Seconds later a panel descended behind the ship, sealing the tunnel to allow pilot and passenger safe disembarkation. It seemed odd to be stepping onto rubberised flooring instead of soil, grass or concrete pads, and Kaire hesitated at the foot of the ship’s ladder causing Pia to almost step on his head.
