Chapter NineIt was late afternoon and Ray's Diner wasn't yet filling with the dinner crowd. Just the usual collection of retired guys nursing their coffee at their regular table, complaining about their teams, their wives, or their senators. Ellie waved to Ray, who was at his usual position behind the counter, ever-present towel in hand, talking to a regular. He gave a smile and a nod back. She checked the room to see if anyone else were there who might recognize them. The men at the table had glanced their way when the bell dinged over the door, looked them up and down, and then gone back to their conversation.
