Chapter Fifteen“Ellie?” She felt a hand touch her arm and opened her eyes to slits. “Hmm?” she said, trying to focus. There was a blur of pink under a blob of what might be a face leaning toward her. “Ellie?” the blob said again. “Sorry, you must not have heard my knock, so I let myself in.” Ellie's eyes cracked open further. A rub or two cleared most of the grit, and she pushed herself up on her elbows, blinking. She was at her apartment, in her living room. She must have fallen asleep on the couch last night. Or was it this morning? Wait…last night? Last night. A sudden flash of warmth flowed over her. Oh, my. The boat, Sam. She burped. Gassy vinegar floated up from her stomach. Erg. The wine. “Ellie? Are you okay?” Ginger was asking, her waiflike eyes wide. “Hmm? Oh. I'm fine.”
