I closed my eyes and turned away, expecting to feel the teeth of the wolf pierce my skin.
Only it didn’t come.
I opened my eyes slowly, and watched as the black wolf seemed to grin at me before it padded off casually in the opposite direction from where it had come, its golden eyes gleaming.
My heart hammered against my ribcage, the beating echoing in my ears as my fingers dug into the bark of the tree I leaned against for support.
“What the hell are you doing out here alone?”
