"Run!" I yelled at the top of my lungs. Bending down, I scooped the now- dull Halo off the ground and turned around. The demons were coming. They stumbled out of the fissure, their deformed bodies crawling out of the pit. They hissed and squealed, the stench of the foul creatures filling my nose and making me gag. The demons' bodies were writhing in different directions. Smoke billowed from some of them, their bodies still burning from the Halo's power. Some of the demons collapsed to the ground, the fire that had trailed from the Halo burning within them. Their screams filled the air, their cries mingling with the agonized cries of the burning ones.
