"Nightingale!"  I hugged my pillow as my Mom throw me the pillow on my side. "Dear, wake up! You will be late for your class!" I frustratingly opened my eyes as I sat down on my bed. "Ma, I'm going to be late just once, please let me." I walked inside the comfort room as I looked beyond my imaginations.  "Dear, hurry! Lorenzo's gonna pick you up! He's here already!" I pulled myself together as I started taking a bath. "He can stop picking me up, he's busy and has taping everyday, what the fuck."  I prepared myself and picked a taupe cardigan vest and a white long-sleeved polo shirt for my top and a white tennis skirt for my bottom. I removed the towel over my head and I looked at the mirror. "I need to blower my hair,"  After that, I immediately wear a white running shoes and looked at myself in the mirror to see if I haven't forgot anything. I grabbed my tote bag as I hurriedly went down to the house.  I heard them laughing, since that very first night, my Mom, she answered yes for me because I left unsaid. I was really shocked of what happened! Everyday he just pick me up at my house and didn't say anything when we were together but he is laughing with my Mom and Dad.  I mean, the first day he picked me up, he's like. "I'm just doing this because my Dad told me he would took my inheritance in vain," he looked at me. "Please cooperate."  I mean, I didn't want him as well, and he's way older than me. Like, not that older, but he is five years older than me! He's technically a young adult and I was a teen! A TEEN!  "Night," I smiled at my Mom. "Sorry, I took long enough to get ready," I told him.  "It's fine, love." he smiled. "Let's go?" I nodded as I kissed Mom in her cheek goodbye and we went outside and in his car.  "Next time, please be early, I have taping," I just nodded. I have taping.. the audacity?! I told him already that he can always stop picking me up!  "I already told you, stop picking me up, I can drive," I shook my head as I put the seatbelt on. "You know I can't do that, at least after the engagement party," he said casually.  I heaved a sigh and he looked at me for a while, "What?"  I shook my head as I looked outside. We were always like this, cold treatment to each other, and just talking sweet when our family was there or were with us. We didn't like each other! I mean, look! Who the hell f****d up would be proposing the first time you'd meet? The audacity!  "Thanks," I looked at him for a second and went outside his car.  "Oh, hinatid ka ba ulit?" she asked me. ("Oh, did he escorted you again?") I sighed as I nodded. "Wow, consistent!" she kid.  "Ilang taon ka na bang hatid sundo?" she was so nosy. ("How many years have you been escorted?") I closed my eyes frustratingly and pulled my hair, "I don't know, you tell me,"  "Choosing violence everyday, huh?" I shook my head as we went inside our classroom. "Hoy, ilang taon nga?!" I sat down. ("Hey! How many years did he escorted you?!")  "Oh, hinatid na naman sya?" I put earbuds so that I can't hear them. "So cruel!" Andrea said. ("Oh, she was escorted again, today?") "Ah, alam ko na kung ilang taon!" I stopped eating my lunch as I looked at Andrea. ("Ah, I know already how many years!") she looked at me and lean, "Almost three years," she was certain.  "Yeah, yeah." I snorted. "Wala bang feelings sa loob ng tatlong taon?!" Kaycee asked. ("Haven't you had feelings in that three years?!")  "Stop spitting nonsense you knew I don't have or had!" I rolled my eyes. "Sus, sa tatlong taon wala talaga?" Andrea doubted. ("Sus, in three years there's no feeling involved? Really?")  "Meron," I rolled my eyes and they just like lean towards me! Personal space, where?  "What? You have?!" I nodded. "Galit, poot, at pagkasama ng loob." I laughed when they heard my answers. "What the f**k, Night!" ("Anger, hatred, and resentment.") "Announcement everyone!" we looked at our President and she was standing in front of us. "Since, almost everyone were here, I would like to tell you that we have an acquaintance party." she told us. "And we have a special guest." She added. "I didn't know who, but they said that person is really a celebrity." she shrugged.  "This Saturday would be the acquaintance party, six pm, the theme is Korean Style." she said and went out again. "Who is that person?!" the girls were so excited. "I hope it's Daniel!"  "No, I hope it's Lorenzo!"  I winced when I heard his name. Come on, I can't imagine him in the same room with me in my senior high class! I mean, I knew he wouldn't take it since he is that busy and duh he wouldn't really take it since I'm here! Masama ugali non! (He has a bad attitude, though!)  "Yes, uwian na!" the professor looked us, "English please." Kaycee looked down and said sorry, "Bat kasi kailangan pa mag-english? Yawa." ("Yes, going home already!"/ "Why do we need to speak English? Yawa.") "Oh, you have someone waiting for you," Andrea pointed out and I smiled. "Hi," he held my face as he held his other hand to my hand. "Let's go,"  "Kaya pala ayaw kay Lorenzo, may Gian," I nudged Andrea's arm and I kissed them goodbye. ("That's why she didn't want Lorenzo, because there's Gian,")  "I'll see you tomorrow," Gian smiled to my friends as he first rode his motorbike. "Where do you want to go?" he asked.  "Whatever you want to go," I said as he assisted me in riding his motorbike. "Okay,"  We went to the place that we enjoyed ourselves. Videoke. "Ang tagal, Gian! Ikaw na!" he was searching for a song. ("Such a slowpoke, Gian! You're next!")  We enjoyed singing as well as ourselves as we do duet and sing our heart out in such ways we didn't expect to happen! We did sing a lot of songs before he escorted me home.  "Thank you, Gian! I'll see you again, I guess." I chuckled as I hugged him and he didn't hugged me back, as I expected.  "You enjoyed being with me, I guess?" he chuckled as he messed up my hair. I stopped him as he smiled. "Good to see that, Night. I'll see you," he started his engine and went out of the village.   "Oh, you're late?" I turned when I saw Tita Gracia. "Uh, yes.. yes po."  "Hindi ka sinundo ni Lorenzo?" ("Lorenzo didn't escorted you home?") I slowly shook my head as I smiled. "He didn't tell me he would pick me up,"  "Oh, he's here," she smiled at me. "David,"  He put his phone to his pocket and smiled to his Mom. "You didn't pick her up?"  He looked at me and he kissed my forehead, "Sorry, love. I was busy in my shoot," I just smiled at him. "It's fine,"  "Look at you two, so in love," we looked at his Mom and he smiled. "Let's go inside,"  "You go first, Mom," she looked at us then, nodded. "What?"  "Can you please cooperate," he said, frustratingly. "Mom will find out, my inheritance would be in vain!" I rolled my eyes as he speak.  "Yeah, yeah. I will understand the assignment, am I good actress?" please note the sarcasm. "You're a bad one," he pulled me inside the house and I smiled to our parents.  After that very first night, our family decided to have a monthly dinner together just to make things accordingly since they wanted the engagement and my 18th birthday to become magical, since they are planning to do the same in the same day. We just said yes and we don't want them to feel I was burden so I said yes.  Why would I disagree if I was adopted? Why would I disagree when our extended family criticize everything that I do?  "Hey, you okay?" I nodded to my Mom and excused myself to change my clothes. I sighed as I went down to the kitchen.  "You knew right?" my brows furrowed as I heard them talking. "Yes, I knew that every sons and your very own daughter is adopted." he smiled.  "That's why you agreed marrying her?" Dad asked. "No," he looked at my Dad seriously.  "I feel sorry for her and I pity her, that's why I'm doing this," --- :))
