Sixty-three: Senior Jurgen
From the moment Kronos stepped foot at the Academy, it was always a day where the birds could fly freely, and the trees were well-maintained by the nature itself.
Never had Kronos ever experienced where the birds were nowhere to be found, the wind was harshly slapping his body, and the sky was not clear at all.
“You two irk me a lot, you know?” On top of that, a clearly pissed-off face was staring at Kronos and Astian as if they did something immoral.
Where were they, and where did all get started?
It was just a week ago when Kronos was bathing in gold coins as he won with the bet they had. (The scores.) Moreover, when it reached his parent’s ears, they immediately sent a myriad of maids along with their gifts to celebrate his achievement.
And then, after that, everything was pretty back to normal, and they worked hard with the stage play because it was just around the corner. That was when Kronos found out that they would perform for the ‘Club Week.’ It is akin to a festival week in Kronos’ past life, and one could pretty much picture out how it would work.
So, the drama club was to perform at the closing ceremony, so they had plenty of time to prepare.
And it that week of going in and out of the club room, a Senior was being clingy towards Kronos. He would always follow him around even though Kronos would ignore him.
And up until a while ago, they were supposedly going to have their last practice before the big day, so Kronos was given a special elixir that would temporarily get ahold of his swearing habit.
Shortly after that, the Senior called for them and asked for help with getting props outside. And since the last practice was still for later, the two of them agreed without much choice as everyone was watching.
In short, they merely followed him because they didn’t want to be seen as a lousy junior rejecting a senior.
But trapping them inside an abandoned building together with the open hostility, Astian could not help but to heave a sigh and asked him in a calm manner. “Senior Jurgen, what do you mean? I thought we were friends.”
Maybe they could talk things out? Because if not, then Astian could no longer help the Senior anymore.
With that being said, the Senior seemed to dislike what Astian said that his brows twitched as he laughed in a crazed manner. “Friends? Did you actually think that I want to be friends with the two of you?”
Kronos may not know the reason, but Senior Jurgen was pretty hostile towards them. His eyes were as if shedding blood as he was gnashing his teeth together with his slow-paced breathing.
Even so, Astian could not care any less. Why would he be guilty of a crime that they do not know of? “Why? What have we done?”
If they messed with something, then they would now and apologize. But as far as Kronos was aware, he did nothing but rehearse and ignore the Senior. Was he hurt when he was rejected, perhaps?
Astian’s question was as if a trigger to a bad memory that the Senior suddenly snapped with his veins popping. “I joined the drama club last year and did my best so that I could someday have a role. I thought all I needed to do was to be patient and wait. But what is this? You just got accepted, and you two already got roles? How could I accept this kind of humiliation?”
Right. That was why he was hostile towards Kronos and Astian. He was sincere and worked his all towards the drama club and waited to have an opportunity to pick a script. But then, after a year of being a member, he was still not able to act on stage. What’s worse was that after being introduced to the others, the newbie was tasked to pick a role at the upcoming stage play. Who would not feel like s**t with that?
“Pfft.”
With just that short laughter coming from one of the juniors, Jurgen’s face became dark as he looked at the one who just laughed and started with her eyes completely black.
“Are you making fun of me?” He asked in a threatening tone of voice.
With that being said, Kronos looked at him and replied with a snicker. “Ah. My bad.”
When Kronos heard no response, he continued as he looked at him still with the snicker plastered on his face. “But haha, what the heck.”
Kronos’ face gradually turned into a mocking one as he looked at Senior Jurgen as if he was looking down on him together with his mocking tone of voice. “Just now, did you admit that you are jealous of us?”
It was the first time for Kronos to show his emotions openly. And even if Astian hoped for Kronos to show emotions, he was taking it back at that moment. Kronos was like the embodiment of an evil being who reigns superiority among all genus.
On the other hand, Senior Jurgen felt chills down his spine the moment he set his eyes on Kronos. But then, he was overwhelmed by what Kronos said that he furrowed his brow and was about to hit Kronos. “Why this insolent brat-!”
However, even before he could get closer to Kronos, Astian scratched him on the shoulder and dominated his body by manipulating his blood.
“Jurgen. It was really wrong of you to lure us here where no witness could see us.” Kronos smiled like a Cheshire cat.
He may not know how he ended up getting excited with the thought of killing someone. It may or may not be the side effect of the elixir. But somehow, Kronos was enjoying that particular side of his.
“Wh, What are you saying?!” Senior Jurgen struggled to talk as he was squirming like a worm on the ground because of his unstable blood.
With that being said, Kronos washed away his smile as he crouched down to level Senior Jurgen in the eyes as he started to tell him a story. “Long time ago, when I was a child, a stray cat entered our house. It was surprisingly behaved and loved to be cuddled.”
“At first, I ignored it, but it kept on following me until one time when I finally gave him a pat on the head, it bit me. The cat was as if, just waiting for me to let my guard down and bite me when it thought that it got the right opportunity.” Kronos added as he was still staring at Senior Jurgen’s eyes. He had a reason to do so. And that was for Senior Jurgen to never erase Kronos’ face in his memory, even when he dies.
Shortly after that, Kronos heaved a sigh as he acted troubled. “But what can I do? Animals and animals-alike could not even know if I’m acting to be letting my guard down or not….” And when he said ‘animals alike, he looked at Senior Jurgen with a mocking face before standing up.
“...even with that useless potential of yours, you can’t possibly stand against me, right?”
With that being said, Kronos then emitted a dark aura that even Astian was struggling for air. He had a murderous aura that if an average person would pass by, they could die. His bloodlust was oozing from his body that even if Skia and Raven wanted to come out, they could not. One more thing was that Kronos still had this sanity despite of everything. In short, he was not going into a berserk state, and no greed would dominate his body.
“You should not have looked at me with killing intent that day. Then, it would not have come to this.”
The day when Senior Jurgen approached them with a bottle of drinks, Kronos was just going to ignore him as he had no intention of getting along with the others in the first place. However, when he felt a stingy eyes looking at him with killing intent, he suddenly got intrigued and let Senior Jurgen feel like it was his victory.
Senior Jurgen had the potential of making anyone lose their sanity if he were to look at them with intense killing intent. But of course, it won’t work for them as they were far powerful than Senior Jurgen.
In fact, it seemed to be weaker than Kronos was expecting for it to be. Because when his aura approached Senior Jurgen’s eyes, it fell off on its own as his body started to rot slowly.
Seeing this, the others then could not take it anymore and stopped Kronos even though they were struggling and were gasping for air.
“Woah, easy on the eyes,” Asisi replied in a calm manner, albeit the situation.
Hearing this, Kronos looked at everyone and realized that they were on their knees. When he looked at Astian, who was also on his knees, Kronos then immediately hid his aura and got back to his normal state.
And with that, everyone started to gather around the half-alive Senior Jurgen, who only had one eye attached. Even when his slowly rotting body, he was still shaking and was overwhelmed by their presence when everyone surrounded him.
“Look. This kid’s eyes turned into gems. We can sell this at a high price on the black market.” Naouii said as she picked up the eye, which became a gem, and checked closely to know if it was fake or not.
With that being said, Luca then scooted over and looked at the eye that became a gem curiously. “Give me that. I’ll take care of it.”
If he were to turn it over to his parents, they would take care of it and exchange it with a money that could buy them a mansion.
Hearing this, Naouii then handed him the gem and looked at Senior Jurgen as she casually scooped out the other eye. “Here you go then. Oh wait, let’s not forget that this kid has two eyes.”
Then it could be exchanged with money worth two mansions.
“Careful not to damage the goods,” Kronos replied as he was helping Astian to get up.
As he could see, Senior Jurgen seemed to be scared enough for him to just stay still with his mouth open but no voice coming out despite the fact that Naouii scooped it out as if it was just a rock stuck on a hole.
So to see if he was really scared, Kronos leaned closer and asked him. “Jurgen, how is it? You’re not scared anymore, right? After all, you can’t see us and our scary faces.”
However, there was no response coming from him.
“Oh my, is he dead?” Astian also leaned closer to see if he was still breathing or not.
Unfortunately, he was already dead.
With that, Kronos looked at the rotting body before heaving a loud sigh and called for his two familiars. “Well. That’s kind of boring. Skia, Raven.”
“Master.” Skia immediately showed up.
And then, it was followed by the ever so active Raven. “Contractor!!”
Seeing that the two of them were already in front of him, Kronos then passed on an order. “You know, I am a good man, myself. So let’s feed the hungry monsters in the forest.”
And then, shortly after that, he looked at Skia and Raven as he talked to them using his mind. ‘Don’t forget to bring me his heart. It’s mine. After all, it harbor’s negative emotions directly to me.’
He could have his greed be satisfied because the hostility was directed towards the host. It was like an undisclosed rule that the more effective the stabilizer would be if the host is part of the hatred or any negative emotion.
And while he was pondering for a moment, he then noticed that Skia was merely staring at him as if in a daze. “...”
Hence, Kronos scowled. “Skia, what are you doing?”
With that being said, Skia blinked as it honestly voiced out his reasons. “Ah, master. It’s just that. You are speaking very well.”
Hearing Skia’s justification, Kronos could not help but to look at him with a weird and, at the same time, confused expression on his face. “?? I can speak very well. I just don’t. Now, scram the two of you.”
That’s true. He can speak just fine. It’s just that he doesn’t want to because the swears in every word irk him. Kronos was actually thankful that he had the elixir, but it seems like it had a minor side effect. Overall, it was a perfect elixir that appeared to be made exclusively for him.
“Yes!” Skia and Raven replied, on the other hand, as they disappeared out of thin air together with Senior Jurgen’s dead body.
Now that it was settled. Kronos then straightened his back and looked at them as he was about to ask something that he was very curious about. “And by the way….”
“...Why are all of you here?”
What brings the whole class to a secluded place?
