Forty-nine: The Story of Lord Dio (2) It was a shocking occurrence that made a scandal to the place that they lived since the boy’s mother had ginger hair while the boy’s father had brown hair. The father did not spare any second and immediately threw the countess and his son at an unknown forest. In the middle of the forest was a small cabin that seemed to be prepared for the two of them. Perhaps the countess was under the illusion that they used to have a good marriage, but in reality, it was not good at all. She was beaten every day without any reason, and her husband would bring some foreign ladies and spend a night with them. The only time that they would exchange affection was when they were in public. It has been like that for over years that it took the count a long time to finally think of a way to get rid of the countess. That was when an unknown type of genus visited the countess at night and slept with her under the order of his husband. It was the father of his silver-haired son. Although the countess did not harbor any ill feelings towards her innocent child and gave him the name of Dio, she still could not take care of him properly because of her deteriorating health. When Dio was old enough to know what was happening to his mother, his potential also manifested. It was a very significant potential. Dio, the great herbalist of the forest. That was what he was called. Whenever he would think of a particular herb, all he needed was a land. He would just read his palms and face it towards the ground, and a miraculous herb would sprout. For years after years, he would either take care of his sick mother or grow some herbs everywhere. The people outside the forest also gradually recognized him and would pay for the condiment that they needed. The others tried to steal the herbs, but without Dio’s permission, the herbs would suddenly turn into a paper. Dio did not pay attention to the other people who recognized him because of his potential. Even when the count made him the owner of the forest in exchange for herbal medicine, Dio did not entertain him. Because later on, he realized how useless his potential was. His mother, who showed affection towards him even though weak, had a disease that could not be cured by anyone. When his mother died, Dio became unstable and was no longer had the ability to distinguish what was right and what was wrong. The hatred towards his father that was never there in the first place seemed to bloom as soon as his mother passed away. That was why he never used his family name and also never left the house that his mother left him. “His heavy heart seemed to be the reason why some monsters resided in the area. So I’m saying is, that the forest of the Great Dio is not only a forest full of herbs but also a forest full of monsters! It’s not well-known, though..” Yohan ended his story with a nervous laugh. He was not the type of person who could be compared to the chatterbox Asisi. To be precise, he was a wallflower. Because of Yohan’s uncontrollable strength, it was hard for him to approach other kids. However, it was back then when before he met the Exi class. It was as if they had known each other since birth that Yohan could feel a bond between them. Little did he know that it was because of the mark. Everyone was actually bonded by their souls. After Yohan told Kronos and Astian the story, silence blanketed the carriage. Astian wanted to say something. However, knowing how much he’s interested in history, Astian instead was busy memorizing the story so that he could take note of it at the dorm. And that leaves Kronos. Kronos actually wanted to stay silent, but Yohan’s stares at him were as if telling him to ask any question. That was why Kronos silently cleared his throat and asked the first question that came up on his mind. “Dio.” Upon hearing this, both Yohan and Ajax looked at the dazed Astian and called for his attention. “Astian?” If it’s Astian, then surely he would know what Kronos means. Astian, on the other hand, did not fail them as he flinched and looked at Yohan and Asisi before showing off a warm smile. “Ah, he’s asking where the Lord Dio is currently.” Upon hearing this, Ajax and Yohan’s jaws dropped slightly. How could they not be agape when Astian was literally in a daze, yet he could still understand what Kronos meant? Did he even listen when Kronos uttered one word? It seems like a mistake, but when they looked at Kronos, Kronos nodded as if telling them that it was exactly what he wanted to ask. And with that, Yohan laughed with an unknown expression. “Ahahaha… how could you... Hahaha.” “You understood him very well,” Ajax added as he was still sitting on Yohan’s lap. Astian seemed to be immune by such a reaction that he merely laughed along and shrugged his shoulders lightly. With that, Yohan then answered Kronos’ question with a bright look. “In any way! To answer your question, Master Dio is still living in his cabin! I think we need to go to him and ask for permission before doing anything since it’s his land.” Hearing this, Kronos asked again with a scowl. “Master?” With one word uttered in the tone of a question, Yohan was at first confused. But then, after a few moments, he felt like he understood what the question was and beamed before explaining. “Oh, I think I understand what you mean! Master Dio is the grandfather of Ajax! I met Master once on the first day of school. I don’t know why he stared at me and then pointed at me before telling me to call him Master. But since I’m a good Lycan, I followed his order.” In the last part, Yohan scratched his head as he acted bashfully. “That’s..” A bit f*****g too much. Kronos had an impression that Lord Dio was the kind of person to point fingers at a random stranger and then boss them over. Having Ajax as a grandson of Lord Dio was even mind-blowing. And if it’s like that, they do not have the same personalities at all. Ajax might cling to someone he’s comfortable with, but that’s much better than pointing fingers. Astian, on the other hand, seemed to be in shock as soon as he heard that Lord Dio was Ajax’s grandfather. “What?! I thought Lord Dio lived alone after his mother died?” Well, that’s how life stories that are tragic works. When they’re full of negative emotions and thoughts, they will seclude themselves. But seeing how Lord Dio managed to have a grandson, his lineage must be strong and prosperous. Replying to Astian’s question, Ajax shook his head before opening his mouth. “No. My grandmother was brave enough to comfort my grandfather. They kissed and had kids.” “Hahahahaha, what is that? I never knew that the story would come to that.” Astian replied as he laughed nonchalantly. It was but a peculiar story that happened to be a story of the person that they would be meeting later. Kronos could not help but to get excited. However, he just could not express it. That was why Ajax failed on his mission to see how Kronos would react. After a moment of cracking up, Astian regained his composure and got back his warm expression as he continued with their topic. “More importantly, while listening to the story, I thought that Lord Dio was a human. It turns out that he was a vampire.” It was not a common occurrence for Astian to know some other vampires as all of them were very private people. No one also visited them in the mansion under a hundred years of being locked inside; that was why Astian felt thrilled to hear that Ajax was a vampire too and that the great Lord Dio was also one. This could tell that the world is really big and that Astian was just starting to take steps in the outside world. Hearing this, Ajax replied with a nod as he kept his blank expression. “Yes. Everyone that was mentioned was all vampires.” “Then, the people outside the forest were vampires too?” Yohan asked with a shocked expression on his face.
