Seventy-three: Raiding the Culprit’s Ship
When they finished idling, Kronos and Eros, still with their disguises, stood in front of the ship that they chose to raid in the middle of the night.
“Kronos as promised~ Everyone in this ship is yours~” Eros started.
Of course, that was what he came for. Food supplements.
That was why Kronos felt motivated and was in a good mood because he’ll be having a month worth of supplements.
But it would be such a hassle if he’s the only one hunting for every heart that’s tainted in negative emotions. Which was why Kronos nodded as he called for his two familiars. “Good. Skia, Raven.”
“Yes!” The two of them immoderately showed up. Not like before, Raven seemed to be able to adjust well to Kronos and his greed that the black dragon would already kill humans in a casual manner.
“What?! Who the hell are you- ACK!”
And that’s the starting point of Kronos being on a rampage.
“NO! SAVE ME!”
Both of them went deeper and deeper off the ship as if they were finding evidence of the poisons.
“ARGHH!”
And as they went deeper, Eros found a secret compartment where there were two doors. One of the doors leads to the boxes of ready made poisons.
“f*****g hell,” Kronos mumbled as his veins popped and his teeth were grinding to each other at the sight that he was currently seeing.
And when Eros got inside of the other door, he had the same reaction. “Guess we really picked the right ship, huh?”
Shortly after that, the crown prince’s expression darkened as he was restraining himself on not to kill the person responsible right at that moment. “How dare that bastard. To do this in the imperial capital brazenly.”
With the sight that they were currently looking at, both the crown prince and Kronos felt like they could kill every adult on the ship at once.
Who would have known that such a person was capable of selling dangerous poison and at the same time being involved with human trafficking and child s*****y?
‘Just you wait, and you’re done for.’
And with that, the crown prince called for the knights to rescue the people that were locked up on the ship, and shortly after that, he made an official report about the incident along with the officially sealed order to catch the culprit behind the poison, s*****y and human trafficking.
On the other hand, Kronos got back to their mansion and asked his father for a favor to lead the knights who were tasked to deal with the commoners that were caught.
Both of them were so busy that they did not even realize that while they were caught up in their own workloads, the sun was also slowly rising.
“My son.” A huge built of a man entered the crown prince’s office without even announcing.
His face was with poise and solemn yet at the same time cold and ruthless. If one could make a comment, the man looked like Eros with the attitude of Kronos.
And no one in the Empire was i***t enough not to recognize the esteemed figure who entered. If it was other people, they would have been bowing on their knees. But then it was the crown prince.
Hence, he merely gave a quick glance before going back to what he was currently doing as he greeted. “Imperial Father.”
It’s not that the crown prince and the Emperor do not have a good relationship with each other. How could it be possible when they share the same face? It was just that they were very close. Close enough for Eros to act that way. Besides, he was so busy with something that he decided to spare the pleasantries.
Seeing that the crown prince was focused on cultivating something on his table, the Emperor took a glance before taking a seat at the couch near Eros. “I had a guess you loathed poisons even though your potential itself is inflicted with one.”
With that being said, Eros halted from mixing some sort of ingredients from one bottle to another as he replied while looking at the Emperor. “I still am.”
The sole reason why he took the mission was because it’s related to poison, and he hates poison to the death. But then, just because he was making a poison out of the pocong leaves that was confiscated, it does not entirely mean that he was kind enough to forget. As a matter of fact, Eros hates it even more.
The Emperor, on the other hand, replied as he looked at his son directly in the eye while the side of his lips was slowly stretching. “If that’s it then..”
Even before he continued, the Emperor once again took a glance at the poison that seemed to be in the process of being done and then looked at the crown prince with a smirk on his lips.
“..to whom are you going to feed that?”
One could say that the Emperor does have an unpredictable behavior. One moment he’s cold as ice, and then the next moment, he’s being sly.
Eros silently thanked himself for sticking with one persona. And that was the angelic crown prince. That way, he won’t deal with other personalities like his father.
After a moment of pondering, Eros got back to work as he replied with a serious tone of voice, but it was very well delivered in a joking manner. “You are very much aware, your majesty.”
Upon hearing this, the Emperor went dumbstruck for a moment as he stared at Eros, who was not paying any attention to him. “...”
At that moment, the Emperor could not contain his feelings anymore, so he looked at Eros with a scowl and rambled. “YOU BRAT! I TOLD YOU TO CALL ME FATHER!!”
See? No one can predict the Emperor. His childish personality got over him again.
Seeming to be used to the personality of the Emperor, Eros continued on what he was doing at, he half-heartedly replied. “Ah, I am~ I am~.”
“Why are you cold towards this old man? Don’t forget the fact that I personally changed your underwear when you were young.” The Emperor continued to ramble on.
Actually, his speech was longer. But then, the crown prince was focused that he was not following his father anymore.
But when he gradually lost his focus because of his father, the crown prince slowly shifted his head to see the yapping Emperor and replied with a murderous smile. “Your Majesty.”
Hearing this, the Emperor then looked like his heart was broken into pieces. It was worse than before! “NO! NO! Just imperial father is fine!”
Why could he do it when he still loves the Emperor dearly despite being annoying?
Hence, to stop his father from yapping and to get out of the office, Eros then stood up together with the poison and kissed his father on the cheeks before making his exit. “Alright, alright, I get it. I’ll get going now, father. I still have someone to meet.”
Hearing this, the Emperor was about to cry when he heard Eros mention the word ‘father.’ Yes, a father without an imperial on it. Either way, even before the Emperor could let Eros see his teary-eyed face, the crown prince had already left his office.
***
“Baron Willford, you came.” Eros greeted the culprit behind everything, who was wearing an innocent and defenseless face.
After preparing everything, Eros decided to call for the Baron in order to confront him. Of course, Kronos tagged along. After all, his sole target was the Baron’s heart. And they were currently at the greenhouse of the imperial palace, leisurely having their small tea time while waiting for the main character of that particularly sunny day.
Even before the Baron could go closer to the two of them, he abruptly showed off a weak expression as his knees gave up on the ground and replied in a shaking tone of voice. “Your highness. Please, let me defend my lowly self.”
With that being said, the crown prince stared at the Baron as if he was some sort of a wild animal before he replied with his usual angelic smile. “Uh-huh, sure~.”
The crown prince called for the Baron to confirm things but then who would have expected for the Baron to confess outright and justify himself? He must have thought that it was all the Emperor’s doing, so he’s out there kissing the crown prince’s feet.
Thoughts aside, when Eros responded in that way, the Baron’s face beamed as if he saw a glimpse of hope.
And with that, Baron Willford then started his explanation and defended himself in a most defenseless manner. “Your highness, I have no idea that there was poison on and other illegal things on that ship. I am just a mere baron. How could I do that?”
After saying that, he looked at Eros to see his reaction. But then, when he saw that the crown prince was merely staring at him as if he did not buy his excuse, he was in a panic.
He continued hysterically but was still keeping an innocent front together with him. “Besides, your highness. I am not the only one who had something imported on that ship. How could you accuse me, a lowly Baron?”
If it was someone other than Eros and Kronos, they might have fallen for his innocent looks. But then, in Kronos’ case, he’s used to seeing the crown prince showing off an angelic smile that’s almost genuine but was fake after all. In other words, no one believed Baron Willford, especially with the face of his.
Thus, after a long silence after the Baron’s explanation, Eros then looked at him and smiled. “Baron, are you done~?”
Hearing this, the Baron, in an anxious manner, looked at the crown prince and replied in a flustered tone of voice. “Pardon? Yes?”
Since the Baron spouted a lot of nonsense a while ago, the crown prince thought that it was then his turn.
Hence, starting off with an angelic smile, the crown prince looked at the Baron as if he was slowly killing him in his mind. “I know that you’re not the only one. But what we have investigated together with the Young Master Azvameth is the Pocong Leaves.”
Kronos Azvameth. His aura was exceptional that the Baron noticed his presence right away. But then, something was telling him that if he would look at Kronos’ eyes, he’d be good as dead. But then, when Kronos was mentioned, it was then at that moment that Baron Willford bravely looked at the young master. And as soon as their eyes met, he felt a chill down to his spine.
On the other hand, Eros continued as he once again called for the Baron, who seemed to be terrified as soon as he met eyes with Kronos. “Baron, you won’t give me something like you are not the only one who ordered pocong leaves on that particular ship, are you not?”
Hearing this, the Baron shifted his gaze towards the crown prince, and the subject for the terrified look on his face was now Eros. It was going smoothly a moment ago. What just happened?
“That is not going to work,” Eros added. But at that time, his expression and tone of voice were similar to the Emperor. It had an immense pressure that pressed the Baron to stay silent while kneeling.
Because the Baron was already silent as if he was pondering on how to get away with the case, Eros did not waste any time and revealed the evidence that they had along with how they knew the culprit. “Baron Willford, a neutral baron. He is currently running a coffee and pastry shop. It was said that he uses the pocong leaves as the main ingredient to the things that he sells in his shop.”
The crown would surely give him a taste of his own poison.
