Eight: And the Almighty’s first word was…
A full moon. It was said that when a full moon strikes, the vampire clan, and the lycanthropes rejoice. As the full moon would be on its powerful states, leaving the two species in advantage. They could replenish their strength or bear a child underneath the bright pale moon. Both methods were their traditions and the reason why their species still exist up until that moment.
The full moon would show up once in a decade and would last for a week. The night would be especially bright, and the wind would be especially chilly. Leaves dancing under the moonlight were not a rare sight to see during a full moon.
A rare sight was that… relatives sneaking up in the middle of the night, under the full moon, and waking up a restless child just for him to speak.
“Now, now, dear Kronos. Say, Mama. Okay? Mama.” Hethera sneaked as she pinched Kronos on the cheeks and later on softly stretching it as if forcing the poor child to speak.
She was just the same as Demiris.
Demiris also showed up in the middle of the night and woke up Kronos with a bottle of milk and a rattle toy.
“My proud son, Kronos. Man up already and say, papa! Okay! Don’t forget to say, papa. I brought you some bribes.” He said with a sinister laugh.
That was what happened. Fortunately, Aquila does still have the heart to let him sleep peacefully. But every time Aquila could have a chance to enter his room, she would also insist Kronos say nanny as his first word. It was as if they were having some competition on whose title would be lucky enough to be Kronos' first word.
What a mess. In the morning, Skia would be secretly help him master his potential so he does not have that much time to sleep in the morning. But in the evening, due to him being a light sleeper, even in his past life, he could wake up every time he could hear footsteps coming towards him.
‘Let me at least f*****g sleep!’
It would be fine with him having a lack of sleep because he was used to it. But he had the body of a baby! And a baby needs a lot of rest! They may be thinking that he’s sleeping during his lunch and afternoon nap, but he’s actually studying!
After the incident, Kronos woke up in his room, and when he turned his head sideways, the sun already resigned. It seemed like he slept for a long time.
The next thing that happened was that he called for Skia to report and found out that he was unconscious for half a day because he consumed a lot of mana from using his potential for the first time.
Kronos then asked about what happened when he was unconscious, but Skia could not tell him either. As Skia was his familiar, whenever Kronos could not have the mana to keep Skia around, Skia would be unconscious like him too. Kronos also tried to read the atmosphere the next day to gather information but the adults inside the house acted as if no incident happened during his birthday. And so, he also shrugged the curiosity that was creeping onto his mind.
If the same thing would happen to him, he could just use his potential to escape anyway. But first of all, he needs to know everything about his potential and how to use it.
Of course, with the help of his familiar- the Shadow King, Skia.
And so, in their first week of training, Kronos learned that he had the holy powers as his potential. However, because of the grudges of the souls that he killed, it turned into a black magic that later on then officially being called as darkness.
After a week of training, ‘weird things’ then started to happen. And those ‘weird things’ was that the adults were very eager to have their titles as his first word.
They really had to be creepy enough right in the full moon week. When Skia taught Kronos some things in the world that he was living in, Kronos was convinced that he was in another world. The other world wherein magic, alchemy, and other species exist.
“Are you convinced enough to stop referring to me as a ghost now, Master?” Skia said woefully as he was watching over Kronos, who was also concentrating on making a chair float.
Skia was testing Kronos if he could listen to him as it was telling him about the whatnot of the world, and at the same time concentrating on the chair to float. They already did it to a book. Hence, they moved on to another level, a chair.
"Yeah, whatever. Since you f*****g taught me things, I'll consider." Kronos replied as the chair finally was lifted at a slow pace and then stopped in mid-air.
With that being said, Skia whimpered. Kronos won't listen to Skia. "Alright then. But I pray master that he will stop swinging the chair or else we will be discovered by the adults in the house."
Hearing this, Kronos scowled as he placed down the chair carefully. What could he do? Perhaps because he had more hardships and training in his past life that the training Skia gave him was so easy for him. It was like attending kindergarten after graduating college.
Seeing that Kronos listened to it, Skia wagged his tail as he thought of having hopes with his master being in control with the potential he had. Because frankly speaking, if a holy power was tainted to at least a pinch of darkness, it would be hard to control. Surprisingly, Kronos was doing well even though it was overly consumed by darkness. Nevertheless, Skia was still worried for its master.
"Ah, right. Speaking of parents, master." Skia changed the topic.
With still a scowling expression on his face, Kronos shifted his gaze towards Skia and replied. "f**k what?"
Kronos truly had a temper of his own. How could he act like a baby with a temper of his? That's right. He would vent all of his anger towards the innocent and poor Skia.
Anyhow, that was not Skia's new issue that he wished to talk about. Instead, it was, "You know, Master. Why won't you officially say your first word?"
Right, first word. The adults were pestering him day and night to say his first word. It seems like he would also take a small amount of time to practice talking again.
However, something caught Kronos that he looked at Skia with a curious face. "The f**k do you mean with officially? I am yet to speak."
With that being said, Skia's expression changed. It was a shocked one. And his tail also stopped wagging. "Master…
…you are no longer conversing with me through your mind. You are already speaking through your mouth."
