Five: Kronos Azvameth
There are some things that Dylan learned in his first month. First, after dying at the hands of his own father, he was born again. Perhaps another chance for him to live the life he truly wanted. Second, he gained himself a genderless loyal subject who referred to itself as the shadow king, Skia. Third, his mother’s name was Hethera and his nanny’s name was Aquila. He then learned that he could already crawl on recently, and most importantly, his father’s name was Demiris. Since their houses were not shabby and hopeless, Dylan assumed that they were not that poor. Hethera could even afford to have a nanny for Dylan. Hence, they should at least have a family name. And his surname was yet to be revealed as they did not mention it even once.
His nanny Aquila told him earlier that his father would be back soon and would name him. That explains why he was merely called ‘my son’ to his mother because his father begged to name their first child himself. Dylan thought that the lack of money for buying a name must be the reason that his father was away.
But that was not the case.
“My sooon! Papa’s back. I’m sorry for not being there the moment you had your very first breath. Don’t worry! I will announce your name right now~ And the high priest over here that I happened to pick up will also give you a baptismal name!” Demiris, his father, cried as soon as he got to hold Dylan in his arms.
When his nanny said sooner, it was seriously sooner. Because a day after his first achievement, Hethera dressed him up early in the morning and stood outside together with Aquila. It was then, later on, a horse that was running at a high speed, caught his attention as its direction was towards them.
And that’s how his father jumped out from his horse, leaving the high priest behind to greet his month-old son, Dylan.
For some unknown reason, the high priest was so good at riding a horse that he easily caught the distracted and homesick Demiris. He also happened to hear Demiris’ loud voice that he abruptly corrected. “What are you saying ‘picked up’? You literally kidn*pped me in the middle of the mass, my my.”
With that being said, Dylan was agape. Not only was his father robbed to afford a name for him, but also kidn*pped a high priest for him to furthermore have a baptismal name? Just how much of a troublemaker was his dad?
Demiris, on the other hand, flinched as he laughed awkwardly shortly after. He was merely excited to see his son. How could he wait for a mass to end? “That’s all in the past now, High Priest! We are buddies, are we not? My son here is ready for his name. Let's start the ceremony!”
And so, everyone entered the humble house of Dylan. He was so busy being curious about what was happening early in the morning that he did not realize how they changed the setup in the living room. There are three chairs surrounding a chair with a basin of clear water on top. And each chair has a newly bought candle.
So he would be baptized in his home. Dylan used to see babies being baptized in the church, so it was new to him.
“Of course, before having a name given by God, I shall be the one who will bestow a mortal name for you first,” Demiris said as soon as they entered the house.
And with that being said, Demiris raised Dylan and smiled broadly. “My son, may you treasure the name that I will give you. Because from this day onward, you are Kronos. Kronos Azvameth.”
‘Azvameth, huh?’ To think that a commoner surname is already a good one, how much more the nobles.
“You have quite a wonderful family name, Master,” Skia commented as it leaped towards the head of the high priest. Kronos will be having his baptismal name next, so Skia was certain Demiris would be facing the High priest with Kronos in his embrace. If it’s not the best place for Skia to witness everything, then it doesn’t know where is.
‘Right? It’s f*****g better than Scout.’ Kronos replied as Hethera, Demiris, and Aquila lit up their candles and pointed it towards the basin with clear water.
Hearing a foreign name, Skia tilted its head and asked. “Scout? Who’s scout, master?”
‘That was my shitty family name in my past life.’ Kronos simply replied.
While the adults were chanting something that he could not understand, the two of them were chattering casually. Why would he bother himself in focusing on the ceremony when the adults were like some demonic cult he often sees on televisions.
There was once that he eliminated a so as they say a demonic cult, they were in the middle of a ritual and in front of them was a naked body of a woman who was supposed to be a sacrifice. The woman was lucky enough to be a daughter of a chairman. If not, then she would have been dead and sacrificed. Because Kronos' service was expensive enough that only influential people could afford him. Now that he was like in the kind of situation like the woman, it was kind of creeping him out.
“Come to think of it, I haven’t heard you telling me your name in your past life, master. Can you tell me?” Skia replied.
Kronos was about to give him a reply when the High Priest cleared his throat and looked at the melted candle drops from the basin. Shortly after, he finally spoke the language that Dylan could understand. “The God bestowed a name to the new life in front of him. Does everyone acknowledge this?”
With that being said, the adults bowed as they replied. “Yes, High Priest.”
The High Priest nodded as a response and soon turned his gaze towards Kronos, who was in his father’s arms, with a warm smile plastered on his face. “Well, then. Kronos Azvameth, son of Demiris Azvameth and Hethera Morlin-Azvameth, I hereby state that the God named you as Dylan.”
Hearing this, Hethera, Aquila, and Demiris gasped in awe and surrounded him. “My, Dylan’s a wonderful name. Do you like it, Kronos?” Hethera said as she looked at Kronos with a sweet smile.
Meanwhile, Kronos was not sure whether to laugh or to cry. After being so good and giving him another chance to live, was God a prankster creator? God really does know how to make Kronos speechless.
‘What a God. That’s my f*****g name in the past.’
