Seventy-two: Going back to the Imperial Capital
All Nyx had to do was to master on how to hide her potential, her aura, and her urge to steal potentials and nullify them. They could just say that Nyx was recuperating at the North because she was born frail and sick. After all, the sole reason why Nyx was motivated at the mansion was to quickly master the skill and live with her family. Because even though their grandparents treated her well, Nyx still wanted to live with Kronos more than living there.
Hence, to prove that she could finally do it, Nyx rushed in front of Kronos and tried to hide her potential and aura. “But I can hide it! Look! See?!”
However, to no avail. “It’s leaking, Nyx.”
Her aura was leaking, and Kronos could still feel that his potential was once again nullified around Nyx. That means that she’s merely close to mastering and not yet ready to live with him.
Nyx, on the other hand, stomped her feet as she replied while being grumpy. “Urgh! It is just so difficult!”
With that being said, Kronos reached out to her hair and gave her a pat while he boosted her will to live with Kronos. “Do your best.”
Hearing this, Nyx then looked at her brother and smiled widely. “Of course, I will!”
And that was how their day at the mansion passed. While Eros was in his room, sleeping ever so soundly, Kronos was in Nyx’s room being so beautiful than a real lady.
Kronos just got back to normal, and Eros just woke up when Tala Morlin called everyone for dinner. They then had a wonderful dinner together at the dining room, with Nyx acting shy and all.
And the following day, when Kronos and Eros were about to depart, instead of going towards the outer garden, Kronos was standing still at the entrance of the mansion.
Because of that, Eros looked at him and replied. “Kronos, let’s go~.”
With that being said, Kronos looked at the crown prince as if he was telling him to wait. And then, when Tala Morlin exited the mansion, Kronos could not help but to ask for his sister’s whereabouts. “Nyx?”
That brat, after dolling up for a whole day, she dare not send her brother off?
Upon hearing this, Tala Morlin then replied with a nonchalant laugh. “She does not want to see you because she’s afraid that she’ll end up stealing your potential and not giving it back until next month so that you’ll stay.”
Kronos was about to get ticked off with his sister. But when his grandmother explained the situation, he just could not help but to laugh. “Pfft.”
“I told her many times not to worry because she’s close to mastering the way of hiding her potential she won’t listen.” His grandmother added as she shrugged.
Well, it’s not like they were in a rush. It was just that Nyx was eager to master it. Overall, everything was fine as it currently was.
Hence, Kronos started to walk towards the waiting Eros after she replied to his grandmother after a moment. “It’s fine.”
When Kronos and Eros finally were side by side, the crown prince then looked at Tala Morlin and bid her goodbye. “Then we’ll be going~.”
“Yes, have a safe trip!” Tala Morlin then replied.
It was then at that moment that Kronos finally called for their taxi. And it was none other than. “Skia.”
The reason why they took a ship was because of those who were watching Kronos. It appeared to be people in the church who had their suspicions about him. That was why he had to put on a show. And now that they were in a place where those church people could not easily access, they could freely use Skia to teleport directly to the imperial capital.
Of course, Skia does not mind. “Yes, Master.”
Or rather, the shadow king does not have much of a choice. Hence, Skia started to teleport towards the place where Kronos wanted It to be.
As a matter of fact, truthfully speaking, teleportation has never been available for families with low-level mana. It takes a lot of mana to move around even though the space between the two places does not really have much of a distance.
But then, the shadow king is an exemption as it naturally had a lot of mana to spare.
In moving from space to space in the imperial capital, that it. However, that was not the case as of the moment. Skia would travel from the northern part of the empire to the imperial capital. The space between the two places was drastically vast, given that they had to be on the ship for three days.
If it was only Skia who was working as of the moment, then the shadow king might have been drained. But then, fortunately, Raven seemed to be overflowing with mana all the time that Skia could just even scoop out some without Raven knowing.
And that was how Skia has been using teleportation without having a mana problem thus far.
When they arrived at the pier, Skia abruptly hid at Kronos’ shadow and absorbed Raven’s overflowing mana with, of course, the latter’s permission.
On the other hand, Kronos and Eros used their magic to alter their voices and change their hair color so that they could disguise themselves as some workers on the customs.
When everything was set, including their outfits, the crown prince looked at Kronos and explained their situation while they were in front of the ships that they were going to inspect. “So we have to investigate three ships that came from the eastern part of the empire. One of them must be the culprit. Let’s go~.”
“Alright,” Kronos replied as he nodded.
It was undoubtedly a good thing that he was a member of the drama club. Kronos felt like he could act well as a custom worker, although all he needed to do was to stay by the crown prince’s side and write down every single thing that the workers would tell them.
Thoughts aside, they then started to walk towards the first ship and talked to the first two people that they saw who were checking the boxes that were to be officially brought inside the imperial capital.
“Good day, good sirs!” Eros greeted them with his usual angelic smile.
Upon hearing this, the two of them shifted their heads as one of them replied with a flustered face. “Ah yes, good day to the two of you too. Perhaps you are?”
Even without saying, the crown prince seemed to be aware of what they wanted to say. Hence, still, with his usual angelic smile, he replied with a nod. “Yes, we are from the customs! We need to double-check the records to see if everything is reported as is it. Would you mind sparing us some time?”
Since the custom seemed to already have done their job very well even before Kronos and Eros, the two of them could not help but to get suspicious with the second round inspection. But with a little bit of explanation, the crown prince was confident that he could stir people up.
And that seems to be the case since after hearing Eros’ explanation, they took the bait immediately and led the way to the inner part of their ship where the other boxes were located. “Of course! Come this way, please.”
Shortly after that, they got to work with each other’s cooperation. While Eros was busily humoring every person that would lay eyes on them, Kronos was also busy writing every piece of information he would find valuable. And that scenario of entering and leaving the ship was repeated for three times.
“Thank you for your hard work!” Eros replied to the three people who cooperated on the last ship.
Because everyone was being friendly with the customs, the crown prince could not easily pinpoint which ship was suspicious.
On the other hand, the workers replied to Eros as they were waving their hands to the crown prince and Kronos, who was walking away. “Yes! You were doing a great job too!”
Indeed they did a good job. They managed to get information about the pocong leaves without anyone suspecting them. Although it was a tough job walking around and being friendly to everyone.
Since it was the crown prince’s mission, after the last ship, he took the notes to skim through pages and check the information that Kronos jolted down.
But then it seemed like Kronos wanted to see what he wrote down too that Eros handed it to him when they were finally at the nearby inn. “Ah, we finally finished! You want to take a look at the information provided?”
Although Kronos was the one who was taking notes, he was not paying attention to the details, so he did really need some reading.
Hence, Kronos looked at Eros and nodded as he took the notes that Eros was lending him. “Yes.”
Because there were three ships delivering pocong leaves at the same time, there were also three people involved.
First was a baron who was always neutral and was currently running a coffee and pastry shop. It was said that he uses the pocong leaves as the main ingredient to the things that he sells in his shop.
The second was a Marquis and, at the same time, the imperial head chef who would use the pocong leaves as unexpectedly it was to the Emperor’s liking.
And the third was from a count who uses the pocong leaves for personal purposes. There was not that much of information about the count, but the workers stated that he used the pocong tea for his wife, who was sick in bed. Simply put, he’s using it as a medicine.
After looking at the information, Kronos gave it back to Eros and laid down in the single bed at the inn. He suddenly felt like everything they did so far was coming at him, and as a result, he felt exhausted. But then he could sleep for a while since their next operation would be in the middle of the night. Hence, Kronos closed his eyes and was about to take a short sleep.
However, Eros seemed to be unaware and not exhausted at all that he suddenly leaned towards Kronos while showing off the three names that the crown prince wrote in front of him. “Kronos, Which ship do you think we should visit tonight~?”
“Mn. Guess.” Kronos shortly responded without even looking at the paper as he was honestly getting sleepy.
The energetic crown prince, on the other hand, replied nonchalantly as he pointed to one name in the list. “My guess? I don’t know. I’ll pick randomly then since they were all good vassals of the empire~.”
Ever since he guessed where the pocong leaves came from, the crown prince believed that he had a strong instinct. It was as if everything that he would say turned out to be true. That was why he nonchalantly picked one that seemed to have some eerie vibes even in the ship that was assigned to them. Simply put, the crown prince placed his trust in his instinct.
Meanwhile, Kronos does not care any less about what ship to raid. As of the moment, he just wanted to sleep. “Right. This ship.”
Seeing this, Eros looked at the exhausted Kronos and chuckled in a low tone of voice before getting off Kronos’ hair and minding his own business. “Alright, let’s go with raiding that ship later~.”
With that, Kronos had a good sleep at the inn while Eros secretly checked the ships once again to see if there were any suspicious movements. The crown prince only stopped looking out when it was time for dinner. He woke Kronos up, and they had dinner on the first floor of the inn, which happened to be a food tavern.
The night was rather still young that the both of them decided to indulge themselves in the food at the tavern.
