Poison Hunt

Sixty-seven: Poison Hunt Apparently, there are two types of people in the world. Those who seek for your presence while being aware if they have or do not have any malicious intent and those who seek for your presence without knowing what your future holds. Simply, those minds who are unreadable are the very last person that you would want to be enemies with. Even though Eros would call him his best friend, Kronos was still not sure if he seriously meant it or just playing around. The reason was that Eros, despite being a human, was a demon at heart. He is pure evil with the face of an angel. Kronos faced many near-death experiences because of Eros, but he also had no problem with calming down the greed inside him also because of Eros. For Kronos, Eros was not an enemy nor an ally. That was why Kronos was pondering as to what Eros was up to this time. Because Kronos was lost in his own thoughts, he did not notice that he was already standing in front of the student council's office. Even when faint waves of laughter and chatter were slowly approaching towards his direction, he merely got back to reality when the noise stopped as well as the footsteps. "What's a lowly thing doing here?" A student who seemed to be in the student council raised a brow with both his hands hidden in his pockets. When Kronos looked at the owner of the voice, the student was not alone. There were three of them, and they had the same expression as they looked at Kronos. 'An easy target.' Those were the words written on their faces. "Are you lost? This place is off-limits for the likes of you." The other student replied as he leaned closer before sharing a nonchalant laugh with the other guys. Kronos was already pissed off that he could not read Eros no matter how hard he would try. And then an unfortunate thing would happen all of a sudden? The only thing that Kronos could do was to heave a sigh as he looked at them blankly. "Haah." Seeing this, the three of them flinched. And with that, Kronos emitted a dangerous aura before talking in a cold tone of voice. "f**k off." It was a good thing that he was away from the other kids. If not, then he could not freely scare people away as he pleases because it might trigger the Alpha's Domination. With that being said, the students felt a shiver down their spine. However, it seemed to be an expected behavior for the likes of them to feel superior despite the sense of danger. Because instead of letting it slide, they got angry and yelled. "What's with this brat?! We're seniors!" Hearing this, Kronos tilted his head lowly as he stared at them as if he was looking down at something with a very low value. "Do I look like I f*****g care?" "You-!" A student gritted his teeth. However, even before he could finish what he was about to say, the doors of the student council office opened and presented the smiling crown prince of the empire. "Oh my~ No wonder why the aura outside felt so familiar~." Seeing the angelic figure of Eros, the three students suddenly jolted as they greeted the crown prince like he was someone worthy of a worship. "President!" Because Eros has consistently been placing an angelic face and a warm attitude, he was loved by everyone. They were blinded by the way he would deliver his words. That even if those words actually would be interpreted as something akin to death. "Now, now. Don't be like that. He's my precious guest." They would still think of it as a goodwill from the angelic crown prince. And Kronos knew very well what Eros was pertaining to. "Eros." With that being said, Eros then looked at Kronos and smiled genuinely as he stepped aside for Kronos to have a way to enter the office. "Kronos, come in~." Even before taking a step, Kronos pondered for a moment and looked at the three seniors who were throwing a weird expression towards him. He knew what they were thinking. They were probably bombarded with questions like how he got acquainted with the crown prince and who exactly was he to call the crown prince by his first name. After all, the crown prince only chose a few who could call him by his first name. That was why the empire knew him as the crown prince, Anastasius Ezykl. Simply put, the crown prince Eros Anastasius Ezykl's first name is exclusively for the ones close to his heart. To be frank, Kronos knew that Eros was totally thinking of either kicking them out of the student council or using them until he's satisfied. Either of the two would be a terrible thing to do. But who cares? They picked a fight first. So it's none of Kronos' concern whether they die or not. "Your people are shit." With that being said, Eros looked at Kronos for a while before smiling warmly and replied with his ever so gentle tone of voice. "Oh no, you can't say that. They're good at their work~." Eros expected Kronos to show mercy and say something like, 'Let it f*****g slide.' Regardless, it seemed like it was a bad day for the three students to pick a fight with Kronos, who was already pissed off because he couldn't figure out Eros. So it's not his fault that they ended up poorly. "Tch." Kronos merely looked away as he stepped inside the office. Well, he would be a bad best friend if he were to ignore Kronos, who was pissed off because he couldn't read him. So he looked at the students and bid his goodbye to them with an angelic face and a gentle tone of voice. "Fellows~ You can go home now." Hearing this, the three students flinched as they replied in a stiff manner before they dipped their heads and got away. "Ah yes, President." That was it. They were not aware that that was the last time that they could step foot at the student council office. Well, even if they knew, they would still not think of it as unfair and take the crown prince's words without harboring any hostility simply because he's Eros. Thoughts aside, Eros then shifted his gaze towards Kronos, who was already on the couch and was casually drinking a cup of tea... "Well, then. Seeing that you're here, Sir Noe must have told you about your separate epitropi~" Eros smiled as he closed the door and walked towards the couch to join Kronos. With that being said, Kronos then emptied his cup of tea before looking at Eros with a scowl. "What the f**k do you want?" And without any second thoughts, Eros replied as he kept on staring at Kronos. "You." Hearing this, Kronos looked at him with a disgusted expression as he heaved a loud sigh in a depressed manner. "Haah." That face seemed to be the goal of Eros that he laughed nonchalantly when he saw Kronos' expression before acting hurt towards his reaction and replied. "Come now, don't make a face. It's for your own benefit too, you know?" With that being said, Kronos raised a brow and replied. "Really?" Eros then smiled and took a glance at the person in front of him before pouring himself a cup of tea. "Of course~ After all..." "...I'm the only one who knows what you need the most." He added as he took a sip of his tea. What Eros said was true. He was indeed low in supply and was worried about how to deal with it without anyone knowing. Hence, joining Eros would be the only way for him to safely farm and at the same time hide from everyone the truth. Eros may be a pain in the ass for knowing his situation very well. It was no time for any suspicions. Hence, Kronos massaged the tip of his nose as he replied. "Fine." As if expecting for that kind of answer, Eros smiled gently as he replied in an energetic tone of voice. "I actually won't need any help since I can handle it. But I've been busy~ So I need a hand." "Sure," Kronos replied indifferently. Seeing this, Eros then once again laughed nonchalantly before poking Kronos as if teasing him was the best thing in the world. "Awww, come on~ Don't be too obvious that you're not interested~." And when Eros mentioned the epitropi, Kronos then started to pay attention and asked with a scowl. "What the f**k is that anyway?" "We're going on a poison hunt~!" Eros replied merrily. Hearing this, Kronos halted from pouring himself a tea and looked at Eros with a serious look on his face. "Poison?" And because Kronos was looking serious and all, Eros then decided to also take things seriously while he was smiling, but inside he was already pissed off. "Yes~ it seems like the security of the capital has been way too lax that a foreign poison's been coming in and out." After saying that, Eros stood up and got to his desk while he rummaged through an area and got back to the couch with a leaf that was foreign to Kronos. "Here. Can you take a look at this?" "What the f**k is this?" Kronos replied as he took a closer look. The leaf had a unique shape, and it was brownish but not dried. "It's the main ingredient of the poison. Are you not familiar with it?" Eros replied. With that being said, Kronos gave it back to Eros as he shook his head. "No." "Hmm. We have a long way to go." None of them was familiar with the leaf. It was the only clue they had, so even with knowing where it came from would be a big help. However, that seems to be not the case. After a moment of pondering, Kronos then looked at Eros and asked. "Do you have any f*****g idea where the f**k is this imported?" If they were coming in and out, then there must be records, no? But it seemed like it was an unknown cargo who safely set sail without being caught up with the ones held accountable for managing them. "No~" Regardless, as a crown prince, of course, Eros had his suspicions too. "I suspect that it's the east. But I still don't have any evidence." Hearing this, Kronos replied as he took a sip of his tea. "Then." And when he emptied his cup, he placed it down before looking at Eros and continued. "Let's f*****g go to the northern empire." He had reasons. If they have no clue at all, then he happened to know someone who can help them and make their mission an easy one. More importantly, it has been a while since he visited the north. The good thing was that he had a pretext. On the other hand, Eros looked at Kronos with an expression where he could not believe in the latter's cooperation. "What's this? Are you seriously in need of supplements?" If there's one thing that they were different at, it would be that Eros was hard to read while Kronos was an open book. But at that moment, Eros did not expect for the sudden complicity at all. "Yes," Kronos replied with a blank expression. So it seems like his best friend had a hidden agenda in the north. Hearing this, Eros simply replied. "Well, I don't believe you~." "Whatever." Kronos then rolled his eyes heavenward. It would be no use of telling Eros anyway. In his case, he doesn't want to waste energy explaining. So it was better if Eros could see them right before his eyes so that no questions would be coming out from his mouth. Curious as he was, Eros still knew about the particular fact that he could not make Kronos speak in a forceful manner. That was why he chose to be patient and witness it himself. "Alright then, we will head towards the northern empire tomorrow, so you need to pack your things up and bid goodbye to your pet while you still can," Eros replied as he took a sip of his tea. Hearing this, Kronos then stood up and replied. "I will." "Since you are in hiding, I will be considerate and will fetch you in your dorm. Don't turn me down, okay~?" Eros added. See? This guy knew everything about Kronos. At this rate, Kronos would not be shocked if he were to know that Eros knew him more than he knew himself. Thoughts aside, Kronos scowled as he walked towards the door. "As if." "Alright then, you can go now~" Eros then finally let him go. Hence, with a glimpse of anticipation for tomorrow's departure, Kronos looked at Eros and replied. "See you." He can finally visit them after a while.
