Forty-four: Limited Edition Cheesecake
The atmosphere inside the rood made the others to also start making haste as they decided to keep their familiars in their shadows as they were uncertain of what to do with them. Astian also rushed over towards Kronos and greeted him with a warm smile on his face.
Kronos showing off a troubled expression a while ago really made Astian to burst into laughter. However, he chose to feign nonchalance and kept it in for himself. Who would have known that the talented Kronos was actually a lousy liar?
“Should we eat at the canteen?” Asisi suggested as he looked at the others who were busy preparing to leave the hall.
The others summoned their familiars in front of them and settled some ground rules before going outside the summoning hall. Of course, the very first thing they told them was to not appear in front of the people who do not belong to the Exi class using their true form. Otherwise, they might be in trouble for questionably having such familiars.
Especially that all of them had a contract with familiars, who were heard on legends only. This was why they had to be more careful even though they badly wanted to show off their familiars to other people.
With that being said, they looked at Asisi with a concerning look as Aeria replied. “It would gather much attention, would it not? We need to be wary of the bullies.”
The Exi was not worried that the bullies might do something to them. Instead, they were worried that they might do something to the bullies. Firstly, they have Kronos who would dare to swear at them even though it’s a lady. And then there’s Astian, who fights back in an innocent manner. Moreover, they have Inoa, who was known for her temperament that was akin to a beast. Lastly, they have Yohan, who was soft-hearted enough to apologize and tremble but then could not control his potential, so he could likely kill a bully.
In any case, they should be in hiding so eating at the canteen was not the best choice.
Hence, as the class mayor, Mikhail stepped in and gave Asisi a pat on the back. “Right. Something already happened a while ago. We cannot afford to be involved with something else.”
The majority might disagree with Asisi’s suggestion. However, Mikhail could not just let him have his energy down just because the class rejected him. As a class mayor, Mikhail thought that it would be best if he could handle everyone. Which was why he thought of rejecting Asisi’s offer and at the same time comforting him and explaining the situation so that Asisi would not feel low.
However, contrary to Mikhail’s dramatic chivalry, Asisi chuckled nervously because of the pressure they were charging towards him. Why were they being serious when he just wanted to buy something? They can just buy it and eat at the dorm, right? What’s up with them?
Asisi could not seem to fully understand why they were fixated with hiding their potential when in the first place, they could just fight back even without the help of their powers.
Also, he just wanted one thing!! “But I heard that they will be selling the limited edition cheesecake today-”
Asisi did not even get to finish what he was about to say when everyone, literally everyone, rushed towards the door.
“What are you all waiting for? Let’s go!” Luca looked at those who were behind him with a serious expression and shouted.
As far as he was aware, the limited-edition cheesecake that Asisi mentioned was the best seller in the canteen. It was because the cheesecake was personally made by one otherworlder and that it only appears once a month with limited in quantity. Rumour has it that the cheesecake has some magical ingredients for it to be incredibly good. But Kronos doubts that it’s just good because the chef was more well-versed with the help of advanced knowledge and technology. However, it has been a long time since he had a cheesecake with the same taste as to where he came from. Why would he miss it?
Seeing how they changed plans over a cheesecake, Asisi wanted to ponder over all of his life decisions.
While everyone was enthusiastic about getting their hands on the cheesecake, Kalled rushed towards the door with a different reason. “I don’t really feel like going to the canteen. I’ll just eat at the dorm, have fun, guys.”
Kronos was merely feeling it. But ever since the encounter with the student, Kallen has been out of it. She was in a daze the whole time as if pondering for something and would also occasionally bite her lower lips. With her in a rush like that, Kronos had a hunch of where she was really going.
After Asisi heard of Kallen’s excuse, he then tilted his head and looked at her before asking. “Do you want me to bring you cheesecake?”
And since Asisi was also there, Kronos guessed that he might know what was really happening. In any case, it matters not. Kronos does not have any involvement with Kallen’s business, so he must stay out of it.
“Sure. Thanks, Asisi.” Kallen replied as she adjusted her glasses before turning her back and walked away in a rush.
Hearing this and looking at their distance, Asisi snickered and replied as he circled his hands around his mouth and shouted. “Anytime!”
Not so long after that, they then started to run towards the canteen with one goal in mind. And that was to have a taste of their limited edition cheesecake.
They certainly expected for a crowd at the stall where the cheesecakes were being sold. However, they did not expect for it to be a big crowd that was big enough to fill the vast canteen.
The canteen was filled with students who were anticipating for the cheesecake, and some of them seemed to cut classes just to have a piece of the best seller. Just because of one stall, the canteen had become rowdy and full. Although those who already purchased one box would either openly use their potential to get away without getting discovered or openly bicker with those who wanted a bite. The situation was a good thing for the Exi, though. Because most of them were afraid that a bully would come and get their cheesecake, they tended to eat in a place without students. That way, finding a seat would be an easy task.
“Look at that line of students. We could not possibly get one.” Yohan whined as his shoulders dropped and his face looked down.
They even ran as fast as they could, but the famous cheesecake could possibly be sold out even before they could get near the stall.
But it was not the time to get depressed. Because they had a succubus and an incubus who seemed to be curious about the cheesecake.
“Fufu, you can leave everything to us. Artem, can you lend me a hand?” Sarlienne chucked in a gentle way that seemed to be still seductive because it came from her mouth.
“Of course, dear.” Even Artem’s bedroom voice was on par with Sarlienne’s.
The others felt like squids beside them that they did not refuse to take advantage of what they have as long as they could have their hands towards the cheesecake.
And with that, Sarlienne and Artem walked towards the counter and straight used their potential to order thirteen boxes of cheesecake. Others could discern that it was their usual charm, but the majority of the crowd were angry people who were protesting with Artem and Sarlienne cutting in the line.
Kronos would not say that they cut in line. Because there was no placard that was telling them to line up for the cheesecake in the first place.
After some time, Artem and Sarlienne got to the place where the Exi was gathered with a victorious smile plastered on their faces. They succeeded alright. For a succubus and an incubus, such tasks were easy as solving an elementary math problem. They were born with visuals that no one could even say the word ‘ugly’ in front of them.
On the other hand, Kronos was still wondering if they used their potential or their charm with getting the cheesecakes. Whichever it was, anything works if it’s them. The most important thing was that they could finally have a spoonful of cheesecake sooner.
“Done~ some staff would bring our food over, so let us find a table.” Sarlienne smiled towards them as soon as the two of them got near to their classmates.
With that being said, Mikhail smiled at Sarlienne as he replied in a friendly manner while pointing to a table on the corner. “There is no need. I spotted a long, empty table nearby. Let’s go.”
One could tell that it was perfect for them. Aside from the fact that it was long and could accommodate twelve students, it was also placed in the corner. Hence, no one would bother going to their table unless they badly wanted to pick a fight.
Not too long that they all settled down and some canteen staff, together with their cheesecakes and one take out appeared. The table was merry and cheerful, while the other table that was not so far away from them were throwing daggers using their sense of sight. But who cares? As long as they did not violate any rules, they’re free to eat to their satisfaction.
Why would they bother to bully the Exi when they did nothing anyway?
Having thought about bullies suddenly triggered Kronos’ mind to remember the incident that happened a while ago. Hence, as he took a spoonful of cake, Kronos called for Skia and Raven in his mind. ‘Skia, Raven.’
And so, in a split second, Skia and Raven appeared beside Kronos as the familiars concealed themselves, leaving Kronos to be the one who could see the two.
“Yes, master,” Skia replied with its head bowing.
If Skia showed his utmost loyalty towards Kronos by bowing and speaking with respect. Raven was the opposite. It was as if the black dragon seemed to refer to Kronos as a friend that it shamelessly tilted its head and replied with a curious tone of voice. “Contractor?”
That alone made Kronos to roll his eyes heavenward and forcefully have another bite of the cake. Well, he needed to be patient with the black dragon because it seemed to be the first contract that Raven had. Even though it acted like a human, a little discipline from the shadow king might be enough for the black dragon to behave the way it should behave.
Thus, Kronos shifted his gaze towards the cake and played it around a bit while ordering Skia. ‘Skia, teach raven the f*****g ropes and go steal that f*****g b***h’s heart together.’
It would be so lowly of him if Kronos merely wanted the heart of the student out of remorse he felt when the student took her time yapping to her heart’s content.
Kronos simply wanted to serve the greed in him a very hearty meal that the greed would very much fancy. After all, Kronos was still in the process of finding a way to get rid of the greed.
Upon hearing Kronos swear for the first time, the black dragon abruptly had cold feet and hid behind Skia. “Ekk! Contractor swears... Scary!”
While it was true that the black dragon heard of humiliating words in the past, it was its first time hearing someone swearing nonchalantly as if it was nothing. It was even more terrifying than listening to insults in a loop. On top of it, the one who swears calmly was none other than its contractor! The contractor himself! What an absurd thought!
Seeing this, Skia and Kronos shared the same concern. Raven truly has a long way to go.
Hence, as a first move in teaching the ropes to its junior, Skia pushed Raven back to its place and replied. “That’s just how master is. You’ll get used to it in no time. Fret not.”
