Thirty-four: Room 302
The only one who had the courage to talk casually and was not affected by the burden was, of course, someone with the blood of a duke.
Hence, Astian looked up and smiled warmly towards Skia as he chatted casually as if they long knew each other. “What? Finally greet? So you’re around after all this time? Also, you are way too big for a fox.”
As much as Astian acted friendly towards Skia, Skia was also actually fond of the young lord that it felt happy when Astian acted friendly towards him.
Hence, the shadow king chuckled as it shifted its friendly gaze towards Astian before looking at everyone. “Of course. But Master was worried that I might startle you. That was why he never allowed me to show up on anyone other than him.”
Being a big fox means that everyone does not have any choice but to look up to it. Kronos seemed to feel irksome seeing how Skia made Astian to look up that he shot a murderous glare towards Skia, who appeared to be having fun with the attention it got.
Skia, on the other hand, felt chills and flinched as soon as it sensed Kronos’ gaze. It was more ominous than the aura that Skia had that the latter could not help but to shakingly look back.
And when it did, the stare was not a mere intimidating stare. It was more like of Kronos saying, ‘be small.’
How could Skia ignore its Master? Even though it was enjoying its temporary fame, Kronos was scarier. Hence, Skia cleared its throat and announced. “By all means, I will be using this shape in order for you to feel comfortable.”
And with just that, a black fog surrounded Skia and seemed to gobble the shadow king up until a little one was left.
At first, the Exi was dumbfounded by what happened. But then, when they saw the most adorable thing their eyes ever encountered, everyone started to look at it in awe. “A black puppy! Oh my, aren’t you the cutest?”
Yes, ladies and gentlemen. Skia was back to being a cute little puppy. The shape it would imitate whenever Kronos would just want him around without any orders. The puppy figure was supposed to be for Kronos only. But then, Kronos himself ordered Skia to do so. Therefore, the shadow king doesn’t have a choice.
Skia instead thought of it as a positive thing as the attention was still on the shadow king.
“How long are you a familiar of Kronos anyway? One month? Three weeks?” Artem asked as he stroked Skia’s back.
On the other hand, the shadow king seemed to like the rub on its back as it nonchalantly spouted the absurd truth. “None of the guesses that were mentioned. I became the familiar of Master Kronos when he was three days old.”
“Wh-what?!” Of course, everyone was shocked.
That was a wrong move. It would be obviously suspicious that Kronos obtained a familiar on his third day after successfully getting out of his mother’s womb. How could a child understand what was going on and communicate with the shadow king just fine? Unless if one remembers their past life, then that should be an exemption.
Eros may know that he had greed inside of him, but he just guessed that Kronos was a tyrant in his past life. So it was safe to say that no one knows that he still has his memories in his past life except for his familiar, the shadow king. If they were to start digging information, it would be troublesome.
Henceforth, Kronos remained his blank expression as he communicated with Skia through his mind in a hysterical manner. ‘Skia, are you f*****g insane?! Change it into f*****g three years. They will suspect the f**k out of me.’
Skia seemed to realize it merely at the moment Kronos mentioned it. That was why its eyes widened as it suddenly opened its mouth to speak in a rushing tone of voice. “Ah! This shadow king misspoke! Forming a contract with a mere three days old is quite absurd. I meant three years old.”
With that being said, everyone fell into silence. Neither Kronos nor Skia could read what they were thinking at the moment. However, at that time, Kronos tried his best not to show off any emotion, especially anxiousness, as it would just raise up any suspicions.
Regardless of his emotionless face, his sweat could not get invisible. When Asisi looked at Kronos with a police-looking stare, the latter could not help but to push back the lump of his throat.
But when Asisi smiled as if he remembered something, Kronos felt that he could finally breathe again. “Right. A mage told me that a baby’s mind is like a cloud. Foggy and unclear. In any way, it is still impressive! Summoning a familiar yourself, even without the ritual, is already cool!” Asisi replied with his arms raised over his head, and both of his fists were closed.
Kronos was speechless. He heard thousands of compliments from Hethera, Demeris, and Aquila. When the imperial siblings visited them at the village, he also listened to a sack of compliments from the two of them, especially from Agape. But why was it that when another person other than them compliments him, he gets flustered all of a sudden?
He could not possibly show it in front of others. Although, the whole class could openly see him getting flustered. Instead, Kronos cleared his throat in order for his voice not to c***k and replied. “Thanks.”
Suppressing their feelings on how they wished to hug and pinch Kronos on the cheeks was hard. The others looked away while the others bit their lips or pinched their arms for the sake of Kronos not getting embarrassed.
While others like Asisi and Luca looked at Astian as if telling him to do it for the whole class. Of course, Astian knew it right away. Hence, he hugged Kronos and then, later on, pinched him on the cheeks. Knowing that it was a usual habit of Astian, Kronos did not show any emotions. So it was safe to say that they did not let Kronos get embarrassed out of their selfishness.
Satisfied with what she witnessed, Aeria then clapped her hand and reminded everyone once again before they parted ways. “That’s it, guys. Don’t forget to have enough rest. We can take a half day off as the summoning ritual would take place tomorrow afternoon at the summoning hall.”
“Uhm. Are we going to go to the summoning hall directly, or do we need to stop by the classroom?” Yohan asked in a shy tone of voice as he also raised his hand.
“I’ll consult Sir Samael about that- Nevermind! He said that he would be waiting for us at the venue.” While saying that, Aeria firstly looked at Yohan with a serious expression. But when an invisible ghost that only she could see appeared right in front of her and answered Yohan’s query, Aeria looked shocked and terrified for a moment before telling Yohan what the ghost told her.
Of course, everyone knew what happened. It’s probably Sir Samael’s doings.
No one talked about it, though. Who knows, they would be the next target to be scared by Sir Samael.
“Oh- alright then, see you guys tomorrow!” Yohan replied when his question was answered. No one actually broke the silence, and since he was the one who initiated the conversation, he felt like he was also the one responsible for the frightened Aeria.
It was a good thing that Yohan was wearing a warm and kind aura like Mikhail and Astian. He efficiently managed to lighten up the mood once again as they waved goodbye before climbing upstairs and getting inside their rooms. “Yeah, see you!”
When they parted ways, the others were already aware of where they were going. Meanwhile, because Astian and Kronos did not go to their rooms as planned but instead rushed towards the dining room to eat, it was their first time going to the third floor.
The good thing was that there were room numbers, so they could just follow the people owning room 301. The bad thing was that the rooms were very separated as the third floor was wide and vast.
Nevertheless, they finally reached their room after a moment of walking. “Room 302. Ah! There it is!”
With that, Astian and Kronos bid goodbye to the others whose rooms were 303 up until 305 before entering the room.
As soon as Kronos wandered his eyes around, he could not believe that it was a dormitory room. Although the style was like of those in the baroque period, it was more of a condominium with everything you need inside. The room could even fit five persons, yet it is merely for two? As expected from the noble’s pocket.
“Wow~ It’s so spacious!” Even Astian was fascinated by the room itself.
They then separated their ways as Astian dashed towards the dining area while Kronos checked the bedroom.
The bedroom was like of his back at the mansion. And when he thought that it was like of his, he literally meant like it.
“Kronos, look! There’s a small dining space here! Oh! Foods!” Astian babbled non-stop as he continued on exploring the Kitchen. But when he heard no response, Astian decided to go to the bedroom where he saw Kronos staring at the bed with a stunned look.
Kronos seemed to sense Astian’s presence that he mumbled still without breaking eye contact from the bed. “The bed.”
