Chapter 10 - Crossing the Simpson DesertThe morning was chilly but it didn't stop Bill and his crew from firing up the engine on the Cessna 172. It made a sputtering noise and at first the mechanics thought it would die on them. But, with a chug and a puff of smoke it burst into a full throated roar. The three men looked at it in amazement and slapped each other on the back laughing. They'd been up all night and were exhausted, but this made up for it.
