ON Monday morning, Jerome came to drive me to the office as he promised. He came in earlier because he wanted us to have breakfast together before he drove me to work. He wanted to eat at the café near the office building but I asked that we eat somewhere else instead. I didn’t want my co-trainees gossiping about me when they saw me there with Jerome. Besides, we might run into Lance again.
Jerome didn’t mind, and we just went to a local food chain. I ordered the tapsilog (fried seasoned beef with egg and fried rice), while Jerome got an order of tapsilog and a longsilog (sausage with egg and fried rice) with extra servings of fried rice. We both got coffee with our meals.
As soon as he put down the food tray on the table, I looked at him and saw that he’s smiling.
