Meet Gio

“Is that what you’re wearing?” he asked as he looked over my outfit. It was nothing out of the normal, nothing special. It was just a high wasted mid-thigh pleated black skirt with a white t shirt tucked in and knee-high white socks with black converse. My hair was drawn up into a high pony tail that cascaded past my shoulders and was adorned with a simple black bow at the top. I always tried to wear clothes that were not revealing and were a little loose so they did not show off my fat. “Go change. Now.” he said with a growl. I scoffed and turned to go to my room to change but stopped before I reached the door noticing the time. “Babe if I change now, I will be late and if I lose my perfect attendance streak, I will be less likely to get valedictorian.” “Fine” he scoffed as he rolled his eyes and threw one of his big hoodies at me to put over my clothes. “Don’t take it off.” and with that we headed downstairs to his car and left for school. We pulled up to the large three-story building and I hopped out of the car and grabbed my backpack from the back seat. “What no kiss?” Jax asked as I turned to run inside. I went around to his window to give him a kiss and he got out. He wrapped me in his arms and lifted me up, nuzzling my neck and making sure his scent was all over me. “Can’t have anyone forgetting who you belong to.” he said with a smirk and then planted a kiss on my lips and let me go. “See you for lunch!” I said as he got back in the car. Jax always made sure to come to school whenever he could to spend time with me. He said he didn’t want me to be lonely, but I knew it was so he could make sure I was not hanging out with anyone he wouldn’t approve of. He has started coming around school a lot more in the past couple of weeks though, maybe he is just bored. I ran through the doors to make my way up to the second floor where my homeroom class was. The hallways were bustling with students standing around chatting, walking together to class, and having fun. As usual they paid me no mind and I managed to coast through the hallways, invisible. When I got half way up the stairs I got a whiff of the most amazing scent. It smelled like the crisp air of the woods I would go to in the early morning mixed with a hint of rain. It smelled good enough to stop me in my tracks and have me look around to find the source. It was so calming. I turned around and saw that the windows to the landing between the staircases were open, that must be it. I ran the rest of the way up to class without giving it another thought. The day went on as it does every day, with me sitting in the front of each class, doing my work, and keeping my head down. I kept smelling that amazing calming smell randomly throughout the day but it was a beautiful day out so most of the windows in the school were open. When free period came, I decided to make my way to the library. Jax never came for free period because it was only 30 minutes and he knew that all I did was read during this time anyway. I picked out about six books that I wanted to sample and made my way to one of the beanbag lounges that were scattered about the library. This one was my favorite because it was tucked back in a corner right below a window that was usually open. As I was rounding the corner of the book shelf to claim my spot with my stack of books, I ran face first into what I thought was a brick wall. When did that get there? I dropped all my books and fell very ungracefully on my butt. Once again, the smell of the morning forest and rain hit me but it was stronger this time. When I looked up, I saw a guy who I recognized as the alpha's son Gio, short for Giovanni. He was tall, taller than Jax at 6’5 and much more muscular. He had muscles everywhere and a face that was a mixture of angelic cuteness and panty dropping sexiness. His high cheek bones, strong jaw, sharp nose, and the most adorable dimples I have ever seen were all put to shame by the deep emerald green pools that were his eyes. He had perfectly trimmed jet-black hair and a little bit of stubble that made him look edgy and slightly dangerous. A snicker behind him pulled me from my thoughts. His girlfriend Kate was standing behind him. They must have just gotten done making out in the back of the library as they usually do because her lipstick was a little smudged. She was the head cheerleader and president of the student council as well as head of the prom comity. She was tall and thin with a perfect body and legs for days. She had platinum blonde hair, bright blue eyes, and the most gorgeous smile. She had a fair and perfect complexion and was friends with everyone and enemies with no one. “Stare much?” She laughed and I realized I had been staring at Gio. But he was staring at me too. Why was I staring? I had seen him around so many times before, we even had a couple of classes together. But I had never noticed how gorgeous he was. Those eyes, those dimples, that body, that smile, and those lips oh my goddess those perfectly kissable..... Wait, what am I thinking? What is wrong with me? -Snap out of it- I told myself. Everyone guessed that Kate and Gio were going to be mates. They were both perfect and perfect for each other. Why was I even thinking of him like this? I had a mate too, a very possessive mate, that would be here soon for lunch. “Sorry” I said as I shook myself from my thoughts “I wasn’t watching where I was going.” Gio was still staring at me with a confused look on his face, Kate must have noticed because her smirk instantly turned to a scowl. “At least it wasn’t too far to the ground for you” she said with another sly smile. Haha very funny, I’m used to the short jokes being only 5’ so it didn’t bother me the way she probably hoped it would. Gio snapped out of whatever trance he was in “I am so sorry, it’s my fault really” he said as he reached for my hand to help me up off the floor. When he grabbed my hand, I felt a small shock of static electricity and pulled away at the sensation, only to fall right back down. I quickly scrambled to gather my books and get to my feet and Gio helped to grab the last couple of books. “Hi, I’m Gio” he said with a smile “Anya” I said back looking at the ground and tucking a strand of hair behind my ear. “Why haven’t I seen you around, are you new to the pack?” he asked “No I’ve lived here since I was 12, we’ve had classes together since middle school” I responded with a blush creeping into my cheeks. “Oh weird... how have I never noticed you?... Well, you’re going to the party tomorrow, right?” Tomorrow was Gio’s 18th birthday, and being the alphas son that was a big deal. When an alphas male heir turned 18, they did not just gain their wolf, they gained the entire pack. There was to be a huge celebration for his coming of age but with his birthday being so close to the end of school, his father agreed that it was best to allow him to finish his studies and his alpha ceremony would be held after graduation. I was pulled from my thoughts as he ran his thumb along my bottom lip and released my lip that I didn’t know I was chewing on from my teeth. I had not noticed when he cleared the space between us and he was now standing close enough for me to hear his heart beating rapidly. “M... me?” I managed to croak out. “Well, you’re the only person I see here...so yes you.” He said with an adorable half smile that made my stomach do flips and my heart pound violently in my chest. I could hear a small growl come from Kate who I hadn’t noticed was still standing there scowling at me the entire time. I knew the answer before I even thought about it. Jax would never want me going to a party, especially with other kids my age, he thought they were all too immature for me to be hanging out with. “I don’t really go out; my boyfriend prefers if I stay home with him.” I answered while stepping back to put a little bit of distance between us in hopes of calming down whatever the hell was wrong with me right now. “Boyfriend?!” he growled out through clenched teeth. “Who the hell is your boyfriend?” he asked as something dangerous flashed in his eyes. “I am. And I would appreciate it if you would back away from my mate” My face paled when I heard Jax. When had he gotten here? How much did he hear and see? “Hey babe, you’re early for lunch” I said as I made my way over to hug and hopefully calm him. “Yea, I thought I would surprise you and come early, I didn’t want you to be lonely” he said with a small smirk. “Your mate?” Gio asked with an incredulous look on his face. The dangerous look in his eyes never wavered. “How old are you gorgeous?” he asked me with a smirk. This made both Jax and Kate growl and Jax stepped forward protectively and pulled me by my waste crushing my body against his. “She’s 17, but I’m 19 so the goddess has already shown me the bond, we just need to wait two weeks until her birthday and she will feel it too” Jax answered proudly “I am sure this lovely lady can answer for herself. So, you haven’t felt the bond yet at all?” Gio directed his question to me with a puzzled look on his face. “We won’t be at the party; we have other plans. Let’s go babe we wouldn’t want to miss lunch” Jax said while he dragged me behind him and we left the library. - What the hell was that- I questioned myself as I sat eating lunch with Jax in his car. He preferred to eat there so we wouldn’t be bothered and we could enjoy each other’s company during my lunch hour. Why was Jax acting so pushy, pushier than normal; why was Gio acting so weird; why did he even talk to me, I was nobody, invisible; why did I react the way I did to him? Was I going crazy? “Earth to Anya” I was pulled from my thoughts when Jax spoke. “Are you even listening to me?” “Sorry” I said “I didn’t sleep well last night and I’m a little spacey” Jax went back to talking about some movie he wanted to watch when we got home and just as I turned to look at him, I saw Gio and Kate walk out of the school towards the parking lot. She saw me looking from over Jax’s shoulder in the car and pulled Gio closer with a smirk and ran her hand down the front of his pants. They’re probably going to screw in his car I thought to myself with a huff and an eye roll. Why did that make me so mad? Why did I even care? Seriously, what the hell was wrong with me?
