Upon hearing this, Hugo's expression shifted as he asked, "What's going on?"
"The second brother has split from the family, taking two of the company's main projects with him. Mom's so upset she's fallen ill."
Taking the company projects was true, but the old lady being sick was a lie. As people age, they inevitably have some ailments.
Hugo's first reaction was disbelief upon hearing this.
"Are you kidding me? Are you sure it's the second brother?"
He knew his second brother's temperament too well. To put it nicely, he was laid-back; to put it bluntly, he was a coward.
Could someone like him really have the guts to break away from the family?
"Believe it or not."
Carter couldn't be bothered to say more to Hugo. "Find some time to come back. If you're late, you'll get nothing."
