I pace the length of the open-plan living room, dining room, kitchen. Dad had to take mom to the main house out of the blue and I don’t like it when things like that happen. When Alpha asks for such things, it’s usually serious. Hearing the truck pull up in the driveway, I rip open the front door and almost run to open the door for Mom.
“You okay?” I feel concerned.
“I’m fine buddy.” She takes my face in both her hands and kisses me on my forehead.
“Why don’t I believe you?” I raise a brow.
“Because you are your mother’s child. Both of you never completely trust anyone. Now can we please get back to the tournament.” Dad answers on mom’s behalf and waves in the direction of the house. I know he is trying to distract me from what just happened, and I am not happy about it, but Mom
