Diez “Why are you so jumpy lately?” Like the annoying chorus from a cheesy pop song, Walt can’t get away from it. It’s replaced Erna’s cheery “Good morning, dear!” when he joins her at the breakfast table, where his glass of freshly squeezed orange juice is always waiting for him along with a perfect view of the Gulf. Now, instead of looking forward to a pleasant day in the Florida sun, Walt wakes up with a knot in his belly as he anticipates yet another morning filled with wifely concern, followed by a cross-examination that would make the best defense attorney look like an incompetent buffoon. He doesn’t tell her about his phone conversations with Detective Noel Perez, which have become a regular thing. Walt’s weak reassurances to his wife that everything’s fine doesn’t convince her.
