Dieciocho No one pays much attention to the white Chevrolet Impala with the smashed-in passenger-side window. Even without the g**g of d**g dealers loitering by the canal, crime still happens around here. Abandoned vehicles or those that have been broken into are part of the scenery in this once close-knit Miami neighborhood. Locals have come to accept it. They figure someone will deal with the problem eventually, so they ignore it and get on with their lives. Although the neighborhood never pretended to be anything better than blue collar, it used to have a sense of community. People kept an eye out for each other.
