This time, she got home more exhausted. As soon as she got to the fence of her compound, she stopped, and tried to dissemble. So, she entered into the compound, looked around, there was nobody around. She opened the door and went straight into her room. Her mum was at the shop, her dad had probably gone for his daily job routine.
"What will I do now?"
That was the only question that she could ask herself before she suddenly fell asleep subconsciously.
As Ahmed got into the compound, he noticed that someone was already at home.
"Who could this be? I think everyone was supposed to be out by now", he said to himself.
So he went into the sitting room, but found no one. So he discovered that Zainab's room was already open. He was really surprised that someone was at home at that hour. He decided to move stealthily towards her room. As he got closer, he discovered that the room was partially open. It was a lady's room, so he was contemplating whether to knock on the door, or to open the door without knocking. After a brief contemplation, he finally resolved to open the door. He opened the door, and found Zainab lying like a lifeless body.
"Oh my daughter! I'm so sorry for not being able to fulfil my promise to you the day you were born into this world."
He sat down on the floor watching Zainab as she was sleeping deeply. After some minutes, he stood up, took off his cap, and walked into his own room. In his room, he remained deeply in pain. He regretted ever pairing his two children in a class. He had never allowed the pain caused by his failure to register his two children to be obvious to anyone. He only wept whenever he was alone.
"If I had allowed Abdul to be promoted, I think I wouldn't have failed this way. After all, he didn't fail, it's just that he couldn't pass some of his exams. I thought repeating him would make him smarter. I thought that was the best option."
His eyes were fixed to the ceiling as tears were rolling down the bed. As he kept thinking about his problem, immediately, his belly called out for food. His worries could not stop the power of nature to prevail. So, as a simple man, he immediately got out of bed, and moved into the kitchen to prepare some food, not just for himself, but for the entire family. Before he could finish preparing the food, Aysha had returned.
"You're welcome, my darling!"
"Thank you, sir!"
Both of them hugged each other as usual.
Aysha was really glad seeing her husband in the kitchen. She had always admired her husband for his humility. His humility has been like an instructional material for her whenever she was teaching the children good morals.
"Zainab is already back."
"Really? Oh!"
So she went into her room and found her sleeping so deeply.
"She must be very tired. But I think I should wake her up", she said to herself.
Immediately she woke her up, Zainab opened her eyes and saw her mum, she grinned and hugged her.
"When did you return, mum?"
"Just now! What about you?"
"I didn't actually check the time, but I think I've spent an hour plus in this room; I don't know!"
" Alright! Quickly go and have your bath, daddy is cooking for us, and the food will soon be ready."
" Are you serious?"
Aysha nodded with smiles.
So she quickly got out of bed, and went into the bathroom to have her bath, it was already 12 p.m.
