CHAPTER SEVENTEEN

249 Words
The Commissioner for Works, Commissioner for Education, and Commissioner for Health with their convoy were present at the meeting in Ashurla. The meeting was brief and successful. At the end of the meeting, a memorandum of understanding was signed and the commencement date was fixed. Everyone at the meeting was really happy with Dr Zainab, and grateful to the Government officials who thought it wise to bring development to the grass-root level. However, she could not make it to the meeting, but her husband was there in her stead covertly. She had already told the commissioner that she would be absent, but her husband would be present at the meeting. So, after the meeting, both of them met and exchanged pleasantries. "Please, extend my regards to your wife", the commissioner said. "Alright, sir! I'll do so", Peter replied. Eight months later, Dr Zainab gave birth to a baby boy. When the news got to Ashurla, everyone jubilated as if a king had arrived. Many people were calling, and some were texting the couple congratulating them on the arrival of the new baby. The commissioner, who had already become a family friend, upon being informed through a text message, called to congratulate them as well, and also fixed a date for him and family to visit the new born baby. Three weeks after his visitation, he still accompanied Peter's family to their child's dedication in Ashurla. Almost everyone in Ashurla was present at the ceremony, both Muslims and Christians alike.
