CHAPTER EIGHT

425 Words
In her room, she kept asking herself questions about how to raise some money for the future. "I think it would be better for me to hike the price of the bread that I sell so that I would be able to save some money for my education." But the second thought countered the first one. She then felt it would be insincere to do so. "If my mum finds out that I've hiked the price of the bread other than the price she gave me, she will never trust me again, and I'm going to lose the respect she has for me." So, she dropped the first thought, and closed her eyes tight. Then the second thought came in like a question. "Why don't you join your mum in baking so that both of you can produce a large quantity of bread for sales?" Upon getting this thought, she sighed and took a deep breath with a smile on her face as she nodded slightly. Zainab decided to wait for her mum to return so that she would share the idea with her. In the afternoon, Aysha returned home. After she had finished having her bath, she had her lunch served by her daughter. After that moment, she went into her room to have some rest. At night, Zainab invited her mum into her room. There in the room, she revealed the idea to her, but refused to inform her mum of the two men who had been proposing or making passes at her. She felt it was no longer necessary. Immediately, Aysha's eyes were glistened with tears, and her heart filled with joy. "I'm so proud of you, my daughter. This is a brilliant idea, and, I assure you that your dad and I will always support you." "Thank you, mummy!" So, after the discussion, they bade each other good night. As Zainab joined her mum in baking, she started going farther than she was in order to reach out to customers. In time, she started travelling to distant places to deliver her goods by cart. As the business continued, it grew beyond their expectation. The only intention was to gain some savings from the business for Zainab's school, but it grew beyond that. The business later became a lucrative one for the family. Hence, the family was able to feed very well, and also have enough money to save. As her mum was saving for the family, Zainab was also saving for her school. But the business really grew beyond their expectation.
