Chapter 1 ~ Stepmother's hatred

1522 Words
In the late Adams mansion, it had been 6 months since Olima Adams lost her parents to a car accident, and she had been living with her stepmother and her stepsister since then, as they turned her into a maid and withdrew her from furthering her education. **17 years ago** Mr. Leo Adams had married Mrs. Zoe Nelson, and she gave birth to a beautiful baby girl with brown sparkling eyes named Olima Adams. But after Olima's birth, Mrs. Zoe had complications. Mrs. Zoe cried as she wanted to give her husband more children, but he assured her that his love for her wouldn't change. Two years later, Mr. Leo spoke to his wife about his intention of marrying a second wife that would bear him more children, and most especially a son that would inherit all his properties and bear his name, instead of going out to adopt a son, as Olima is a girl. Mrs. Zoe got emotional and afraid of another woman coming into her home and turning her husband's heart against her, so she spoke to her best friend named Gina Edwards to accept and marry her husband. Mrs. Zoe and Gina used to be best friends before in the past, as they attended the same high school and lived on the island where the Billionaire families live. They were still friends even after Mrs. Zoe had married. Mrs. Zoe never—knew that Gina secretly admired her husband, and she proposed to Gina to accept and marry her husband named Mr. Leo. Gina wasted no time and accepted the marriage, and she moved into the white mansion to live with them. But as Gina arrived at the home, she changed and started quarreling with Mrs. Zoe. Gina told Mrs. Zoe to leave the master's bedroom so that she and Mr. Leo could use it alone since Mrs. Zoe couldn't bear another child for Mr. Leo. Mr. Leo was shocked at Gina's change in attitude, as she dared to quarrel with Mrs. Zoe and even called Mrs. Zoe a witch for refusing to exit the master's bedroom. Mr. Leo got annoyed and threatened to divorce Mrs. Gina the following day, but Mrs. Gina calmed down and switched back to the good friend that she was to Mrs. Zoe, and she begged Mrs. Zoe to plead with their husband not to divorce her. Mr. Leo told Mrs. Gina, "How dare you come into my house today and dare to quarrel with your best friend. I regret marrying you, Gina, and Olima will inherit all my properties tomorrow. Even if she gets married to a man and changes her surname to her husband's surname, she will still be my daughter. So get ready to leave my house tomorrow, as our marriage is over!" Mrs. Gina begged Mrs. Zoe to plead with their husband not to divorce her, and Mrs. Zoe sighed, as she was the one who had begged Mrs. Gina to accept and marry her husband. Mrs. Zoe pleaded on Gina's behalf, and Mr. Leo allowed Mrs. Gina stayed in the mansion with them, but in a separate bedroom. Mrs. Gina hated Mrs. Zoe from that day onward as she avoided speaking with Mrs. Zoe. She felt that Mrs. Zoe and their husband had conspired to marry her and bring her into the mansion to show her how lovely of a couple they were. One day, Mrs. Gina finally went into Mrs. Zoe's room, and she pleaded with Mrs. Zoe to allow their husband to spend a night with her, since that was why Mr. Leo married her too. As Mr. Leo never touched her or made love to her after marrying her, he instead ruined her wedding night and only looked at his first wife with love while staring at her with hatred, refusing to even sleep with her. He claimed he had made a terrible mistake by marrying her after she quarreled with Mr. Zoe on the first day of her arrival as his official second wife. Mrs. Gina couldn't hide her embarrassment as she had thought Mr. Leo would love her more and pamper her, while pushing his first wife aside. Instead, Mr. Leo rejected her and refused to eat her food, even forbidding her from touching any of his things. Mrs. Zoe agreed and waited for Mr. Leo to arrive home that night, and she spoke to Mr. Leo to spend the night with Gina in her bedroom and to see if Gina would bear him a son, as that was the reason why he married Gina. Mr. Leo refused as he was avoiding Gina, and he didn't want to have anything to do with Mrs. Gina since he regretted marrying her. But after Mrs. Zoe sent him away, Mr. Leo had no other option than to spend the night in Gina's bedroom, and he made love to Gina. Months later, Mrs. Gina was still jealous and continued hating on Mrs. Zoe. After seeing that Mr. Leo loved Mrs. Zoe very much more than her, she had thought that Mr. Leo would love only her and ditch Mrs. Zoe for her inability to bear him more children. But Mr. Leo instead ditched Mrs. Gina, as he refused to eat Gina's food and avoided Gina too. Mrs. Gina quarreled with Mrs. Zoe again, and that made Mr. Leo annoyed, as he finally brought a divorce paper home. Mr. Leo ordered Mrs. Gina to sign the divorce paper, but Mrs. Gina refused, as she told her husband, "I'm pregnant." Mr. Leo couldn't send Mrs. Gina away with his child growing in her womb, so he allowed Mrs. Gina to stay in his mansion with them, but on one condition that Gina would start living in the boys-quarter apartment and away from the white mansion, and Mrs. Gina would not quarrel with Mrs. Zoe again. Mrs. Gina accepted, as she had no other option, and she didn't want to leave the house too. Months later, Mrs. Gina gave birth to a baby girl named Mia Adams, but Mr. Leo never came to her again to see if they could still bear more children, and most importantly a son. 14 years later, Mrs. Gina's hatred for Mr. Leo and Mrs. Zoe grew worse. It was only once in her 14 years of marriage that Mr. Leo dared to touch her and make love to her, claiming that he regretted marrying her. Mrs. Gina knew she couldn't leave Mr. Leo's house again to go out and remarry. The townspeople already mocked her for accepting to marry her best friend's husband, and her parents weren't in support of her marrying Mr. Leo at first. Mrs. Gina had thought that Mr. Leo would love her, but he didn't love her and rather avoided her. Mrs. Gina knew that if she went out and got pregnant to see if she could birth a son for Mr. Leo, he would know that the son wasn't his baby. He only accepted Mia to live in the main mansion with them because Mia was his biological daughter, and Olima also wanted a younger sister to play with. Mrs. Gina's heart turned cold, and she contacted a truck driver who rammed into Mr. Leo and his wife's car as they were going to Olima and Mia's high school graduation ceremony. Olima was graduating from college while Mia was going into a senior class. Mrs. Gina later confirmed from the driver about his successful job, and she killed the truck driver too to hide her secret for life. Months after the burial ceremony ended, Mrs. Gina moved back into the main mansion that her late husband and his admirable wife had sent her away from. She sacked all the maids and turned Olima into her servant, causing Olima to withdraw from her tutorial class. All their family members who had been silent started visiting the main mansion to know who would take over Late Mr. Leo's wealth and oil company. Mrs. Gina was a brutal woman and she arrested all her in-laws, accusing them of being the ones who killed her late husband and his admirable wife. All the arrested in-laws had to bail themselves out and signed an undertaking note never to disturb Mrs. Gina Adams and her family again. Mrs. Gina later contacted Mr. Leo's lawyer to know about Mr. Leo's will, as she remembered Mr. Leo had told her that Olima would inherit all his properties. Mrs. Gina could have killed Olima too, but she didn't want her only daughter Mia to be alone in the big house without a sister. So Mrs. Gina decided not to kill Olima and turned her into her lifetime maid, knowing that no one would come to Olima's rescue. When the lawyer arrived, he told Mrs. Gina, "Mr. Leo's will cannot be changed, as the will regarding the company stated that the company should be given to Olima Adams, but when Olima finally turns 24 years old." Mrs. Gina got annoyed and thought of how she would change the will to become her own or her daughter's property alone.
