PRIME SUSPECT

VAL'S POV

“Ms. Herra, tell me what happened.” The officer asks me. I'm crying while my hands and uniform have a lot of blood.

“I'm.. n..not.. th..the killer.. I.. will ne..ver kill any..one.” I said while crying. I'm here at the police station as I was the prime suspect of Heart's death.

“Please tell us what happened, so we can help you.” He calmly said and I burst into tears.

A day before the incident…

“Will you just drop your subjects and leave the SRA.. for good?” Dia angrily asked me and I just shook my head.

“You know that I can't. My mom will not forgive me if I withdraw my enrollment.” I replied, but she came and looked at me closely.

“Do you really think, Heart will forgive you for what you did to her?” She asked and I shook my head.

“I just spilled juice and it's more than a week now, can't she just forgive me?” I asked, but she gritted her teeth.

“You messed with her, and no matter what you did, she’ll get rid of you.” She said and her eyes were in tears.

“What do you mean, can't you just save me from her? You are Pentagon after all.” I asked and she glared at me.

“Do you really think I have the guts to mess up with her? Even though I hate her so much, I can't do anything. I'll just be free when she's no longer here.” She said and packed her things.

“But since you're my cousin, you'll drag my name down. So, what you can do is to stay here and withdraw your enrollment as soon as possible.” She added and walked outside.

“Where are you going?” I asked her, but she didn't answer my question and left my room. I am so nervous and it's been a week since I stayed at my place and not attended my class.

I tried to call Dia, but she's not responding. It's almost midnight, but she is still not home. We're living in the same place and she is always updating me, where she is.

Suddenly, while waiting for Dia to come home, I saw a message from an unknown number.

Text message: This is Star, Hearts want to talk to you.

She sent me the code and also sent me the address where I can meet Heart. I immediately went to SRA and desperately wanted to beg for Heart's forgiveness. Fortunately the gate is open and there's no guard rounding.

As I entered, I went to Pentagon House, and no one can enter the Pentagon house aside from the Pentagon members. I looked around to find Heart and Star, but there's no people there. I smell a strong scent that makes my heart ache. I ignored what I smelled and called the names of Star and Heart.

After a while, I heard a scream from the rooftop and it made my heart explode in nervousness. I was about to go there when I saw someone fall down from the rooftop. The Pentagon house is built of glass and concrete and we were able to see the outside, but not the inside of the house.

I shakingly went outside and I covered my mouth when I saw Heart lying on the ground with her head full of blood. I tried to wake her up and hear a noise from above. I saw someone from the rooftop, but the face was unclear to me since it's dark.

I tried to go back inside and find that someone, but the code is no longer working. I can't do anything else and I just want to wake up as if I'm having a nightmare. I'm crying to Heart's body and I immediately call Dia to tell what happened. While I'm calling her phone, I heard a familiar ringtone from the above before I lost my consciousness.

Present time…

“If you lost your consciousness, then why didn't we see you at the crime scene and you're hiding in your classroom?” The officer asked and I shook my head.

“I'm not hiding. I don't even know why I've been there. If I'm the killer, then why didn't I even clean this blood on my hands and stay there instead of going home? I told you, I saw someone from the rooftop. He or she may bring me there.” I said and he just looked at me.

"But the students even saw you arguing with the victim after dismissal. You're the only person who could have the motive to kill her." He said and I gave him a confused look.

"What?! Did you not hear me? I told you, I was warned by my cousin stay at my place and I just went to the school the moment I saw Heart fell to the ground." I explained and he shook his head.

"So what are you telling us? Someone trying to frame you up? According to our intels, the victim is popular and loved by everyone. She has no enemy, not until you talk to her yesterday afternoon." He sarcastically said and I just cried because I can't defend myself.

In the middle of the investigation, one of the police came and whispered to the officer I'm talking with. He nodded and looked at me again.

“It was shown that the metal tip found in Heart's body has five fingerprints and one of them is yours.” He said and I opened my eyes wide from what I've heard.

“What metal tip are you talking about?! I told you someone push—” I didn't finish my sentence when he interrupted me.

“The victim died because of the arrow bowed to her chest.. and one of the fingerprints shown is yours.” He said and I shook my head.

“No. No. I didn't even see any wounds on her body when I tried to wake her up, I told you. I'm not the killer.” I cried and apparently my lawyer came.

“You're not the only suspect here. There's four other fingerprints in the murder weapon. If you want to prove your innocence, I should also talk to the Pentagon.” He said and I loudly cried.

I also told him about the conversation threat I heard last week between Pyra and Crescent. My lawyer defended me and fortunately, I'm able to go home for a while.

Before I went home, I saw the Pentagon at the front of the Police Station. They are also called for an investigation based on what I've narrated to the police. Star angrily slapped me and the police officers here stopped her. I cried and touched my face and all of them were looking at me angrily, even Dia.

“How dare you drag my name to Heart's death. I don't even know you, then why would I text you?” Star angrily said to me.

“Please don't make a scene here. Escort them to the interrogation room.” The police officer from earlier shouted and I stood up straight and wiped my tears.
