Micah Pov:
To say that the truth hurts is an understatement. It's been 2 days since we had that horrible dinner with our families and I haven't been able to bring myself to go downstairs and talk to my parents. I've been sneaking out of my window if I want to leave the house, and I'm not even being discreet about it. I would've never been able to get away with it before now, but I know that my parents are just trying to give me some space since that dinner at Marie and Alex's house. Dylan still goes downstairs but he won't even look at our parents anymore, and when they try to talk to him he just says that he has pack business to attend. The LIES..how could the people who are suppose to love you so much lie to you about their life. Is this even forgivable? Marie isn't hanging in much better than I am, luckily Alex has been helping her cope with this whole situation and keeping me updated via mindlink. I wish I could stop going over that dinner in my mind but it just keeps replaying!!!!
2 days ago, Micah POV:
I texted my parents about the dinner at Marie's house tonight and they agreed to meet me and Dylan there. We have an hour so we decided to clean up the mess and put all the books back in their spots. Dylan is helping me gather all the pack law books on the library cart, "Where were you and Alex while we were over here doing the actual work?" Dylan shrugs his shoulders saying,"We were scanning through some of the restricted sections towards the back of the library. We just wanted to make sure we didn't miss anything that we might have needed..why does it matter? Yall seemed fine over here working together." I couldn't tell if he sounded guarded or jealous. I mean they were the ones who didn't want to work with their mates because they would be distracted. I'm not going to get into with him, If he wants to act jealous then he only has himself to blame because he didn't want to be paired with Marie. "Whatever bro, I was just curious." Then I mumbled under my breath,"Didn't know that it took 6 hours to scan the restricted section.." After everything was finally put back in its spot, we had 15 minutes to get to Alex and Marie's to meet up for dinner, which was prefect because it took 13 minutes to walk from the library to their house. By the time we got there, our parents car was already in the driveway. We followed Marie and Alex inside their house where you could already hear all of our parents talking in the kitchen. I always admired Marie's house, It always felt cozy and like home to me. That's probably because I've been coming here since I was in diapers. My mom and Mrs. Wentworth,(Marie's mom) have been best friends forever just like ex-Gamma Wentworth and my dad. They all grew up together along with our Alpha. Normally, Alpha Bennett would be here with his son Micheal but tonight we just arranged for our families to have a private dinner. Walking into the kitchen, Dylan and I both take turns hugging Marie's mom and exchanging pleasantries. We help move all of the food into the dining room and then sit down to eat. All of the adults sit on one side of the table while all 4 of us sit on the other. We dig into our food and casually chit chat about whats new, if we are excited about our upcoming birthdays, and ready to find our mates. If only our parents knew that we already know who are mates are. As we finish dinner and Mrs.Wentworth starts to bring out dessert Alex clears his throat,"So I think we should talk about why we wanted to have this dinner tonight." Mr.Wentworth nods his head saying," I do love having dinner with our best friends but I knew there was a reason as to why you wanted it to be tonight. So, tell us whats going on?" My parents nod their heads as well waiting for Alex to continue. "Well we all had some questions, and we went to the library to find answers but obviously not everything is recorded in there, or atleast not to the questions that we have. So we figured that we would ask yall because you all were alive around that time and could give us some insight." Dylan chirps in at this point," Okay, so we want to know why there is a law that states we have to wait until our mates are 18 instead of telling them as soon as we know, AND we want to know why that law changed in the last 50 years.." For the first time in my life I can actually say that I see our parents figeting and that they are mindlinking eachother. "Obviously you have answers or else you wouldn't be looking nervous right now, so could you tell us?",asks Marie. My father stands up from the couch and crosses the room to the bar, pouring himself a glass of burbon. After he slams the glass down on the bar, he turns and looks at each of us before saying," That law was made because of us. The law was made because we thought we knew everything and could do whatever we pleased. We were wrong then but we were young and dumb. We thought we could get away with it and for awhile we did until the council got involved, luckily we werent seriously punished because we were the next generation to take care of the pack. Things-", "Uh, yeah im gonna interrupt you right there because WE heard you say it was yalls fault but you never said what yall did to make this happen and I'd like to know. "says Alex. All of our parents jumped up at that point and started arguing with eachother. "They dont need to know why!" "We never agreed that we would tell them all the details, they are going to hate us!" "They deserve to know the truth!" At this point, I almost don't want to know anymore and I think Marie thinks the same by the way she is looking at everyone. before I can voice that though, my father 's voice booms through the room,"ENOUGH! We will speak of this only one time and It will not be spoken of again."
