Chapter Thirty-Two Face to Face with Father Outside of the locker room was a small elevator, separate from the main bank near the monitoring station. She suspected it was for employees only, but when she pressed the button, the doors opened and let her inside. She pressed the button for the ground floor and spent what felt like an eternity sliding down the building. The elevator was positioned just as remotely on the ground floor as it had been above; the hallway was empty, although she could hear the murmur of voices from behind closed doors on either side. She could see sunlight dappling the floor of a hallway on her right and turned that way, following the light out of the building and into a large arcade dominated by a fountain shooting water up into the air.
