“The Alis,” Valentina said under her breath. Her heart panged for what Nandi must be feeling, if she even knew. “Hero—I mean Stephen, um, Collins—wasn’t there. He was with Nandi when she was shot. And Kavi escaped through tunnels under the building I was in. That was long after the headquarters blast. Skald, this Roar Jorgenssen, I don’t know about.”
“So possibly all three escaped?” Valentina’s father scanned through the lists. “Not with enough fighters to try this again, I don’t think. Still, we’ll have to keep our ear to the ground for when they join forces again.”
“I don’t think that will happen,” Valentina said. “Not after they knocked Hero unconscious and shackled me to a pillar.”
“They have common goals. I don’t think they can just walk away from each other,” he said.
