"Do you think the girl is alive?"
"I hope so"
"I reckon we should get her out and check"
"Good idea"
I slowly opened my eyes to be met with two boys.
"Great! She's alive!" One said.
I moved my shaky hand over my face to shield it from the bright sun.
"Need some help there?" Another said.
"Y-Yes please" I stammered.
Someone stretched out their hand, and I hesitately clasped it. We made our way out by stacking boxes of supplies to meet the outside world.
"W-What is this place?" I thought out loud, looking around, "I can't remember anything! Why c-can't I remember?!"
"We can't remember either" Said a boy, "Except for our names"
"The only thing I remember is my name too, and that is Alby" The boy who helped me out, stated.
"I-I think I remember my name too... It's.. Jade!" I exclaimed.
"Well, good to meet you, Jade. I'm Nick" He smiled.
"Were you guys here before me?" I questioned.
"Nah, we all got here at the same time" Said Alby.
"S-So how do you know each other so well?" I asked.
"Well, you were out cold for a couple hours" Nick frowned.
"A c-couple hours?!" I panicked.
"Hey, don't worry, we'll fill you in on everything. No need to panic, you're okay" Nick reassured me.
"O-Okay" I muttered, "It seems like we have everything set out for us"
"Yeah, I guess" Alby said.
"Come on, let's go check everything out together!" Nick grinned.
"Good that" Alby replied, patting Nick's shoulder, and running off towards a garden.
"You coming with us?" Nick turned around and asked.
I nodded and ran to catch up to the two boys.
"So.. We can't escape can we?" Nick said.
"Only if someone volunteers to go out there" Alby replied, pointing at one of the large openings between a humongous wall that surrounded the area.
"I guess I can do it" I shrugged.
"No, I think we should all go together" Alby frowned.
"Okay, we'll leave first thing tomorrow morning, kay?" Nick said.
Alby and I agreed.
"Guys! Wake up!" I whisper-shouted at the two sleeping boys.
"Yep, got it, I'm getting up" Nick groaned.
"Alby! Come on!" I said, shaking him.
"Ugh.. It's so early though" Alby mumbled.
"We need to see what's outside of those walls!" I added.
"I swear I heard them close last night" Nick exclaimed.
"Close? Why would they close?" I queried.
"I'm not the one you should be asking" Nick tilted his head.
"Oh, come on! We may as well leave without you!" I said, returning my attention back to Alby.
"Ugh, alright" Alby replied, slowly heaving himself off the grassy ground.
"I swear, if you take this long, it's going to be sundown before we even get a chance to see what's out there!" I rolled my eyes.
"Okay, Sassy, I'll hurry up for you" Alby said.
"Thank you! Finally!" I sighed.
Alby, Nick, and I all ran towards the entrance.
"I'm kinda nervous" I said.
"It's okay, we won't go too far in" Nick said, peering through the gap.
"What do ya reckons out there?" Questioned Alby.
"Honestly, I have no clue, but I know it can't be good" Nick replied.
"Alright.. I guess we should stop guessing and see for ourselves?" I glanced back at the two boys.
"Yeah, c'mon, I'll take the lead" Nick smiled.
"Okay, be careful, Nick" I said, returning the gesture.
We all cautiously made our way through the entrance. The towering walls were covered in dark green vines that aimlessly sprouted over them.
"Woah.." Alby said, bewildered.
"Woah, indeed" I repeated, just as stunned.
"It must be some sort of.. Maze?" Nick said to himself.
"Wait, guys" I stopped walking, "Maybe we should think this out first. If it really is a maze, and we get lost, how would we get back?"
"Jade's right, we should probably plan something out before we go out any further" Nick nodded.
"We'll figure something out, and venture out tomorrow morning" Alby agreed.
I abruptly woke up to the sounds of shrieking and metal.
'What the hell?!' I thought to myself.
I looked back down at the boys that were resting a couple metres away from me. They both seemed to be sleeping.
I stood up and fixed my gaze onto the now closed entrance.
"Hey guys! Nick was right-" I yelled.
"Go back to sleep, Jade! It's literally the middle of the night!" Alby groaned, and tossed himself on his side.
"How?! I keep hearing strange noises! A-And the walls! They closed off!" I panicked.
"They what?" Alby said, sitting up, rubbing his eyes.
"Look!" I exclaimed, pointing at one of the entrances we walked through that morning.
"What the-" Alby's eyes widened.
"Nick! Hey! Take a look at this!" I shook him.
"Huh?" He mumbled.
Then it came. The horrifying shrieks and moaning of whatever was outside those walls.
"See what I mean?!" I jumped back in surprise.
"Oh my god" Alby muttered, getting up and standing beside me.
"D-Do you think the walls close for a reason?" I stammered.
"What would that reason be?" Nick added, now standing on the other side of me.
"To keep.. Whatevers out there, out?..." I said.
"Oh no.." Nick continued, his mouth agape, "Ohhh, no. This cannot be good"
"Are we sure we w-wanna go back out there anytime soon?" I glared at the wall.
"We'll leave the adventure and save it for another day, yeah?" Alby frowned.
"But the walls open during the day! We
