Two Hotties

I can't seem to shake the feeling of guilt and shame that's been weighing heavily on me. I never thought I would be the kind of person to sneak out of someone's apartment after a passionate night, but that's exactly what I did. I knew it was wrong, but in the moment, it just seemed easier than facing the reality of what we had done. Now, I will see Noah every day at work, and it's absolute agony. Every time I see him, I am reminded of what happened between us, and the fact that I didn't have the courage to face him in the morning. It's like a constant reminder of my own weakness and cowardice, and it's tearing me apart inside. “I am sorry, we can get back to the budgets.” I say and change the subject. “Yes that’s the best way.” He says. I know he is mad, and I don’t blame him. I am mad too, at myself for leaving the way I left and now I must dance to the beat of the drums. “Everything looks good, I look forward to working with you.” He says as he gets off the chair opposite me. At the same time Ginny pops up in the door. “Girl it’s lunch time.” She smiles brightly. “Hi Noah, would you like to join us?” she extends the offer for obvious reasons. Ginny is always trying to hook me up with the newest co-workers that she thinks would be a good fit or just good for fling. Although I prefer not to subscribe to work flings because it affects your work once things end, not everyone can be mature about things. “Maybe another time,” Noah politely declines the offer. I am glad he has because I wouldn’t want to fail to have my lunch because he would be seated across the table from me and pretending this past weekend never happened. “Cool, I will hold you to that.” She responds. “Sure, enjoy yourselves.” He says before he leaves my office. “He is hot!” Ginny whispers as he leaves, and we are both staring at his figure as he walks towards the elevator. Thank god for the glass walls, you get to see people as they come and go. “I am starving, where are we having lunch?” I ask her. “I was thinking the Indian restaurant a block from here.” “Cool, let’s go.” As we walk into the Indian restaurant, the tantalizing aroma of spices fills the air, instantly whetting my appetite. The familiar clinking of cutlery and hushed conversations blend, creating a soothing ambiance. I scan the room, for a good spot for my vivacious and gossip-loving friend and I. “Over there!” she points at a table in the far-right corner of the room. I follow her to our table. I settle into the chair, the plush cushioning providing comforting support as I prepare myself for an update on Ginny's latest infatuation. Her animated eyes sparkle with anticipation. “You won't believe the tea I have for you today!" "Alright, Ginny, spill the beans. What's the latest scoop?" I ask, playfully raising an eyebrow. With an almost theatrical flair, Ginny leans in closer, ensuring our conversation remains confidential. "Oh, Laura, you wouldn't believe the two new hotties Lex Co. just hired.” She says, how I wish she already knew that I know them. “Noah and Bryan are causing quite the stir in the office!" I chuckle, knowing Ginny's penchant for drama and romance. "Are they really that remarkable?" I inquire, feigning nonchalance while secretly indulging in the intrigue of her words. Ginny's eyes widen as she dramatically recounts the details. "Laura, they are not just handsome, they're stunning! Tall, dark, and oh-so-handsome. I mean, you know how our office has been quite dull lately, right? Well, these guys have certainly turned up the heat!" As we peruse the menu, Ginny continues her animated monologue, describing their chiselled jawlines, captivating smiles, and the effortless charm they seem to exude. She shares snippets of office encounters and subtle interactions that she has observed, making it sound like a captivating television drama. Unable to contain my laughter any longer, I interject, "Ginny, it sounds like you have become the official investigator of Lex Co.'s romantic affairs. Who needs a private detective when they have you?" Ginny playfully rolls her eyes before grinning mischievously. "Oh, Laura, you know me too well. I can't resist a good story, especially when it involves attractive colleagues. It adds a dash of excitement to our otherwise mundane work routine, doesn't it?" Our laughter subsides as we place our orders, opting for a selection of aromatic curries and delectable naan bread. The waiter, noticing our lively conversation, joins in with a smile, eager to contribute to the joyful atmosphere. “Look, I am just saying they are both Hot and you should explore what they have to offer.” NO!! How do I even tell her that I have been with both. Bryan is horrible but the s*x is amazing. Noah currently hates me and the s*x we had is on another level, I swear I have never had s*x that good. As we indulge in our flavourful meals, Ginny and I savour not only the delicious cuisine but also the warmth of our friendship. Sharing tales of office romances and fleeting infatuations adds a sprinkle of adventure to our ordinary lunch breaks. In this cosy Indian restaurant, with the scent of spices lingering in the air and the soothing background music setting the mood, Ginny's animated tales bring a much-needed dose of excitement to my day. And as we laugh, tease, and enjoy each other's company, I can't help but appreciate these moments of light-heartedness amidst the bustle of our professional lives. *** "So, how was work today?" Carol asks, taking a sip of her wine. Glad Carol came home with already made lasagna and a bottle of merlot. I take a deep breath. "It was...awkward, to say the least." Carol raises an eyebrow. "What happened?" I take a sip of my wine, trying to collect her thoughts. "Well, you know about the whole thing with Noah," Carol nods. "Yeah, you told us about it. How's that going?" "Not great. I have to see him every day at work, and it's just...torture." Carol nods sympathetically. "I can imagine. But what specifically made today awkward?" "Well, on top of everything else, both Bryan and Noah got assigned to my project," I say, taking another sip of wine. "So now I have to work with both of them at the same time." Carol looks surprised. "Wait, Bryan is working on your project now? I thought he was in a different department." "He is, but apparently they needed someone with his expertise on my team. So now I am stuck working with both of them, and it's just...uncomfortable." "I can imagine," Carol says, setting her wine glass down on the coffee table. "What did you do?" "I tried to avoid them as much as possible," I say, taking another sip of wine. "But it's hard when we have meetings and they are both there, just sitting across from me. I can feel the tension in the room, and I just want to crawl under a rock." Carol nods sympathetically. "That sounds really tough. Have you talked to either of them about what happened?" “I tried talking to Noah and he was mean, really mean.” “Why though?” carol asks. “I got the sense that he didn’t like my decision of sneaking out on him.” “And Bryan?” "No, we didn’t speak about our past relationship. I feel like if I do, it'll just make things even more awkward." "But isn't it already pretty awkward?" Carol points out. I sigh. "Yeah, I guess you're right. I just don't know how to approach the subject without making things even worse, I don’t want people to learn about my past." Carol takes a sip of her wine and thinks for a moment. "Well, for Noah maybe you could start by just acknowledging that things are awkward and see how he responds. You don't have to go into detail about what happened, but just saying something like, 'Hey, I know things are a little weird between us, but I wanted to make sure we are all on the same page for this project' might help." "Yeah, I guess that could work. It's just hard to admit that I messed up, you know?" "I know," Carol says, placing a comforting hand on mine. "But everyone makes mistakes. It's how we handle them that really matters." I take another sip of wine, feeling a little more relaxed. "Thanks, Carol. You always know how to make me feel better." Carol smiles. "That's what friends are for." I am glad I have her. I needed this today after the day I have had. Ginny didn’t make my lunch break easier constantly talking about how hot Noah is and Bryan can be a snack if I wanted. I bet she will be shocked when she learns that I have been with them both before they joined Lex Co.
