Chapter 1

“Just sign it,” Carter Reeves said angrily. “You must sign it before I get back from my trip on Thursday. You're a parasite i need to get rid of Eva and i am going to divorce you”

“How can you say this?. Why would you say this?. I am your wife Carter”. Eva was hurt with his words as they pierce through her heart. She knew he had no feelings for her but she had never imagined he would treat her this way.

“I do not love you at all, your presence suffocates me. I do not want you around me, I am way above you in every way, you do not deserve me. So sign it and let us end this sham called marriage.”

“Carter, but I love you, I need you!!” She was on her knees crying already hoping her plea could change his mind.

“I mean, look at you and look at me. I am tall, handsome, and a billionaire at 26. I am nothing but perfection while you are nothing.”

Carter's description of himself was accurate. He is 6 '2 " with a prominent check one and strong jawline, he has piercing bright blue eyes with full sculpted lips. He was nothing but perfection.

“I mean look at you Eva. You lack the physical qualities the man of my nature requires in a woman and you are too emotional for me.

Carter was already determined to end the marriage, he did not care about Eva's feelings at all. He never wanted her, he only used her and now that he is done with her, he is ready to dump her.

“I'm going out now and by the time I get back, I want this paper signed”. He said pointing to the divorce paper and stormed out with anger with his briefcase, his foot step was sharp, he slammed the door and threw down nothing but pain towards Eva way.

Eva was devastated, a cold wave moved down her spin as she couldn't stand, she was lost. A four year marriage down the drain, the love of her life is about to leave her, the life she struggled to build and maintain came crumbling down.

What would she do now? She doesn't want to lose her marriage?. She was devastated, she could not believe her eyes. She could not breathe, Eva felt the wall closing in on her as her vision blurred.

“Jolie.” Eva cried out faintly for her domestic worker and assistant. She felt a sharp pain in her chest, she tried to get hold of something but her fingers grasped nothing, she felt weak on her knees as her strength drained away

With a shallow thud, Eva’s body collapsed to the floor, her eyes fluttering shut as darkness took over her.

It was not long before Jolie found Eva's body unconscious in the living room of the mansion. She quickly rushed over and called 911.

The ambulance came and confirmed Eva to be unconscious with the help of the first aid. She was stabilized, “She just needs to be rushed to the hospital where proper tests will be carried out.”

“St. Bernards Hospital please, that is the hospital we need to go to.” Jolie cried out knowing Dr steve the family doctor will take proper care of Eva and needs no introduction to her medical history.

Dr. Steve walked into Eva’s room, she is now conscious but tired, “ You will be fine, your vitals are normal, you just require rest and i am running some few tests to confirm nothing is wrong which i suspect already.”

“Then why do i feel like i ran cross-country, i do not feel okay Stevie” aside being the family doctor Steve was a close friend of Eva

“Well, that is because you need to completely rest to feel better.” He knew Eva required nothing but rest to free her from the horrors waiting for her at home.

“You want to talk about what happened? Eva, I was shocked when you were rushed in. What exactly did Carter do?”

“Something I do not want to talk about right now Steve, you said it yourself I should rest. I do not want to think about it right now, I just need a break.”

Eva had no plan of revisiting what just transpired between her and Carter right now nor sharing the news with anyone just yet. She still believes they could be a way to convince Carter not to leave her.

“Alright then, I will ask the nurse to give you something for the pain. Jolie is outside, she will get you anything you need.”

“Thank you Steve.” Eva has to think about the step she has to take. Will she be able to convince Carter to stay with her? What if she fails in convincing him?. These are her thoughts as the nurse comes in to give her the drugs for the pain and she soon dozes off.
