1106 Words
The next day, Adrianna prepared to start looking for a job. She woke up very early and got dressed in casual pants and a top. As she walked down the stairs, a very good aroma wafted into her nose making her mouth water. She walked faster and was downstairs in no time. Adrianna was taken aback as she saw her twin in an apron cooking. “Hey, you are ready. Come and eat breakfast so you will have enough energy during the day.” Adrian said immediately he looked up and saw her. She was genuinely moved and burst into tears. “Cry baby, it's a good day today. Don't ruin it with your tears.” Adrian walked up to her and cleaned her face. Adrianna bit her lips and struggled to stop the tears. Adrian took her in his arms and after a while, she calmed down. She thanked Adrian and walked up to the dining room where Adrian had already dished out her food. Her face lit with joy as she recognized all her favorite dishes. “When did you learn to cook??!” she turned to ask her brother. “Two years ago. I was hoping that if I could have you back, I'd do everything possible to never let you go again. So I learned new things, one of them is cooking and you were my biggest inspiration.” Adrian explained. “Don't cry. You won't want to take a swollen face around after all who would hire someone with an ugly face like that!!.” Adrian panicked as he saw her eyes welling with tears. Adrianna looked at him, her face filled with gratitude and with a reminder from him, she started eating. After eating, she wanted to do the dishes but Adrian stopped her. “You are already running late. You should be on your way now.” He said as he packed her bag for her. Adrianna protested saying if he made the food, then she should do the dishes but Adrian wouldn't hear her out. He practically threw her out of the house after wishing her good luck. After she left, Adrian made a few phone calls emphasizing that the other person took good care of ‘her’ Adrianna walked a few streets and she found some flyers about a company in search of a secretary. The requirements were a high school certificate and the person should be good-looking. Although Adrianna felt the requirements were weird, she thought she could give it a trial after all she was the queen of high school known for her beauty and she had a high school certificate. She sighed feeling relieved that she completed high school before her accident and went to the address written on the flyer. When she got to the company she was a bit surprised. The company was not as large as her family's company but it was bigger than she expected. Adrianna adjusted her scarf making sure it covered her hair and entered the company feeling a bit nervous. “Welcome to xxx company ma'am.” the receptionist greeted while sizing her up. Seeing she was well dressed, she spoke to her politely. “What can we do for you?” Adrianna handed her the flyer and told her she had come to apply for the job. Immediately the receptionist heard that, and her attitude towards Adrianna changed. She looked at Adrianna with a hint of disdain and asked for her name. Adrianna noticed the disdain in her eyes but decided to let it slide. In a warm and gentle voice, she answered “Adrianna Snow.” The receptionist nodded and made a call after confirming from the person on the other side, she directed Adrianna to the CEO’s office. “Welcome Miss Snow, we are so honored to meet you.” A short bald man greeted enthusiasticlly as Adrianna entered the office. In her excitement, she didn't pay attention to the second part of the man's sentence and only wondered how he knew her name. ‘Probably the receptionist already told him.’ she thought. She looked at the decoration of the office in awe as she was never allowed to go to the Snow family company. “Uhm, Miss Snow??!” the man jilted her out of her reverie. “Yeah, yeah. I'm sorry sir.” Adrianna stuttered. “No problem. You can have your seat.” The man offered her a seat. “Thank you, sir. My name is Adrianna Snow and I'm here to apply for the position of secretary.” Adrianna sat down and presented her CV and high school certificate. The man collected them from her and placed them on his desk. “You can call me Mr Williams and when do you intend on resuming??” He asked. “As soon as possible Sir.” “You can resume tomorrow.” Adrianna left the office feeling surreal and flustered at how smoothly everything went. She flagged down a cab and went to Mia’s house. “Why didn't you tell me you're coming here so I could pick you up??!” Mia berated as soon as she opened the door. “I didn't want to stress you.” Adrianna smiled sheepishly. Mia glared at her and led her inside. She saw Mia’s parents in the sitting room, greeted them, and followed Mia upstairs to her room. Mia was the only child of her parents so they pampered her a lot. When Adrianna was younger, she used to envy Mia for the love and attention she got from her parents. Mia’s mother treated her like a daughter so she went to their home very often. She jumped on Mia’s bed as soon as they entered the room. Mia sat on the chair in her room and said “When you're done playing around, tell me what got you so excited.” After a while, Adrianna calmed down and she told Mia about her new job. Mia hugged her feeling very excited and happy for her. “What do you plan on wearing tomorrow??!” Mia asked out of the blue. “I don't know for now but I'll work something out.,” Adrianna replied Mia looked at her as if she had grown two heads “We are going shopping now.” Mia had just dragged Adrianna outside when her phone rang. She picked it up and spoke to the other person while looking at Adrianna. Adrianna wondered why she was looking at her that way and was about to slip away when Mia threw her into the car and zoomed off.
