Theodore’s expression shifted. The dangerous smirk, the sharp edge in his voice, softened for a fraction of a second into something that resembled awe. “The key?” he repeated, voice almost reverent now. “Yes, she is the balance,” Donna said, letting the weight of the words settle. “This young lady has power beyond what the Evergreen clan suspects, beyond what most of the territories suspect. She can survive where others can’t. She is no ordinary wolf like the rest of us. She has moved unnoticed, unseen, until now. And she is essential to whatever comes next, for you, for your plans, for the control you seek over the wolf territories.” Theodore’s lips curved into a full smile, sharp and pleased, a dangerous glint in his eyes. He turned slightly and barked an order to one of his attendants
